Hassan Diarra Practice Highlights

I can't believe how much Diarra has improved from his first year. He is in control most of the time and his outside is money now. He really worked on his game and deserves a chance to start this year. I would love to see him and Mahaney in our back court together.

.-.
are Diarra and Karaban the co-captains?
I think Hurley went back to not doing captains last season. Maybe Karaban will force him to do it again, we'll see.

.-.
Pullup jumpers? :)

Mid range J's have been in all the guard and wing videos.
Gotta believe UConn knows something the rest of college basketball better figure out.

Off the dribble, spotting up, or off a screen- his balance from his legs while he elavates is impeccable.

To me, Hassan is a lock to start. I realize his value off the bench, but as one of two guys who know how to run the Hurley system having 3 years in it, I think it’s almost impossible to keep him out of a starting role. I also feel Hurley will want two guys at guard who can create off the dribble (Hassan and Mahaney).

.-.
just for the sake of continuity and establishing leadership, Hass should start. but hurley runs a competition based culture and it may just involve Hass leadership actually producing enough value to win that competition.

Hassan shoots the nicest, softest layups of anyone I can think of. Gets the shot off too. Tony Parker, Kyrie, Earl Monroe: some nice guys to be compared too. Maybe I'm overdoing it a little, but not much.

Agreed. I'm speaking to the doubters who still view Diarra's evolution as something "new". I still read posts from people who still think of him like he's this out of control guard who turns the ball over and can't shoot. And now they're all surprised by his development.

Playing like a confident leader with no hesitation in putting the ball on the floor-going to the hoop- and/or stroking the three-or just initiating our offensive motion. Changing the trajectory on his outside shot-flattening it out- has really helped with his FG % over the last two years. His floor game /D/leadership will be the glue that holds our team together this year. Looking really good for June/July timeframe.

I know its the Yard, but why is Hass starting being questioned. I remember when freshman Boatright was going to start over Bazz pre-season . Hass is an experience leader with a Championship pedigree matters in college ball, especially at point guard. Hass knows Hurley's offense and is ready to lead.

I know we have some damn good freshman, but as of November Hass will be the Man, its his throne to lose. I have confidence he will keep that throne, especially not losing it to an unproven talented freshman in practice. That's not the Husky Hass way.

Danny needs Hass more than anyone this year to repeat again, we're fine at point guard. By the way Nowell advancement alongside Hass will be like Hass' advancement alongside Newton. Just saying Hass will make Nowell better and ready to take us to a get more future Championships.
