I hope something happens.

Nice to interest coming from numerous leagues including USL, NASL, NPSL, and maybe newly formed NISA.

I'm not sure if it's just the one interested party(Hartford City FC) trying to upgrade to USL, NASL, NISA....

Or, is there more than 1 group interested? I know HCFC and its numerous owners have been trying to upgrade to a higher league for awhile now.

Hopefully Aaron Sarwar doesn't get left behind in all of this. He was the one who stepped up and actually made it happen with HCFC.

Three Make A Pitch To Overhaul Dillon Stadium

He's 1 of the 3 that submitted bids.

1. Data Mail guy in newington wants to create a team and join USL.
2. Former bidder that I believe wanted to bring a NWSL team.
3. Sarwar owner of HCFC hoping to join a higher league.

Was just about to post this article....a few things that are confusing/stupid....

1. The former bidder, still has an open law suit against the city because he was released in order for them to hire the corrupt guy who got arrested. Can’t see how they possibly chose him after they had already released/fired him.....

2. The Data Mail guy is looking for city funding for the new stadium. Ummm, last I checked Hartford was on the verge of bankruptcy. Can’t see this plan actually going through with ANY city funding, nor should it.

3. The Hartford City Guy should get the bid. He’s planning on using his own money to make small upgrades to Dillon. I believe he estimated it to be around 400K in upgrades.

Reason I think he has the upper hand is that he already has a team that has a proven following. The other two don’t even have a team. Going with them could, and likely will, result in nothing ever coming to fruition because they don’t have the cash for a team. The article said that they would invest 7 to 10 million to get a team. Not sure how realistic that is and they don’t have a team yet.

If Hartford was smart, and let’s be real with that happening, they’d go with the Hartford City bid, let them play out a few seasons, and then if things have improved in the city finances, look at financing options for a bigger or new stadium on that site.

I just can’t see how the city can possibly imagine giving any money to this project, especially to an owner who doesn’t even have a team yet!

I believe this is the group that wants the stadium to be fully funded by the city/CRDA. Not a shot that happens and if it does Hartford residents should revolt. The city needs money and is almost bankrupt. No idea how this group thinks they're getting a dime from the city or state on this one.

I do believe they plan on using their own cash to start the franchise (EST $7-10 mil). However, if the XL Center can't get money how do they really expect to get a dime.....
