Happy Abu Day

I think a lot of us are taking for granted what a huge selling point our 35mill state of the art practice facility is. It will be completed by next summer.

Older article (Aug 5th) but this sounds good for UConn:

“I’m looking for a school with a lively campus. I’m gonna have to live there for four years, so I want to live in a place with a good sports atmosphere,” explained Abu. “Not everyone will be a one-and-done player, so I need to make sure the fan support and atmosphere is something I want to be a part of for a long time.”

Interesting. I suppose nobody really knows what he means by a "good sports atmosphere", but I would assume he means football. Florida would certainly have a substantial edge in that department, and N.C. state would have to be second. In the other hand, he might be disappoined by the fan support at a place like UF, where nobody really cares all that much about basketball. N.C. State would seem to meet the criteria (avid fan base, big time sports, a coach that will make sure he is there four years, etc,), but we don't know if he wants to leave New England.

Has he rescheduled his UConn visit, or has he just hoped on the wrong plane?

.-.
So who reported he was visiting UConn. Rather have him here last anyway. Hopefully just postponed.

You know what I was thinking we won and survived just fine without Curley, Emtimov , Randall Jackson, Perry Carter etc.

Many guys that alot of us wasted a ton of time hoping that they would become Huskies.

Would love to sign him...........

But if Abu wants to go play at PC(Why ??) or wherever go ahead.

Next Recruit!!!!!

Geez....so wanted Randall Jackson....also Wayne Turner.

What will Abu be thinking after his Sophomore season in college?

A) Should I get an agent now , or return to Storrs to be a high first round/ lottery pick...or

B) Why did I come to Providence ? Read below.

You have the talent to get to the NBA. The real question is do you want to go through a verified program , or be the next Gomes?

“No calamity befalls on the earth or in your selves but it is inscribed in the Book of Decrees (Al?Lawh Al?Mahfooz) before We bring it into existence. Verily, that is easy for Allah.” [al-Hadeed 57:22].
As part of that belief, we should therefore recognize that Allah does what He wills for reasons that are only known to Him. Any attempt to comprehend with our limited minds His wisdom, or to understand how our current situation fits in His overall plan can only lead us to erroneous conclusions.
The “If-Only” Trap: Another trap that many of us fall into has to do with using the “if-only” logic. Very often, our minds tell us that “if I could have done such and such, then this wouldn’t have happened.” The prophet warned us against falling into such satanic traps. In a hadith narrated by Abu Hurayrah, the prophet remarked,
“…….If anything befalls you, do not say ‘If only I had done (such and such), the such and such would have happened,’ rather say: ‘Allah has decreed and what He wills He does,’ for ‘if only’ opens the door to the work of the shaytaan.” Narrated by Muslim (2664).

the BY was all crazy for Ike Diogu.....then we had to settle for Emeka a few months later
No, no, no. I corrected you or someone else on this a few months ago. Emeka was class of 2001 and Diogu was class of 2002. Those 2 had nothing to do with each other. UConn lost out on Jamal Sampson and some other recruit, whose name escapes me now, and then "settled" for Emeka in the spring. The rest, as they say, is history.

I think the other was Isaiah Fox.

@TerryA88 - With respect for the effort and the matching of sayings to the context of basketball recruiting, please consider a separation between church and forum.

And then UConn faced Arizona next year and beat Arizona on National TV, with Emeka having a dominant peformance with a near Triple Double. I remember him blocking shots and even some dunk attempts. Isiah Fox was barely noticed that game.

I found the box score & story from back then. That was a great game. Taliek & Gordon were big too.

AZHuskie went down to Tucson alone for that game. Wearing UConn gear of course. I still lived in CT or I would have been there too.
I think he got tickets from a scalper.
Ben hit a three to put into OT when it looked like it was over.

It's hard to believe OK4 has been in the league nearly a decade. Great career; won ROY, medaled (poorly) in the Olympics. The latter is more larry browns fault.

Thought WHO was on first?
