An unofficial is usually just during one day for a couple if hours. It's paid for by the recruit and they get a tour of the campus and the basketball facilities and talk with the coach a lot. An official is usually over the course of a weekend and its paid by the school. On an official there's a lot more time to do things. They will get the tours and talk with coach a lot and then they will play some ball with the team and hang out with them, go to the head coaches house for a meal and meet his family. Also if its during football season they will usually go and check out the game, for example Snider's visit is the weekend of the Michigan game.
