Where have you seen that? The earliest I have seen is 14th overall in 2018.

I worry about the health of CGarr if he doesn't go to UConn.

You haven't seen hamidou play much then.

For one he has zero semblance of a decent three point shot. He is an elite athlete and terrific transition player but in general his half court offense stinks.

Ben Simmons was the #1 recruit and quite possibly the best passing big in a long, long time. He also has no shot but he is simply a much much better player. No disrespect to hamd intended. He's awesome, but Simmons with the right work ethic could be MVP caliber. That ceiling is probably not available for hami.

Doesn't really matter. A one-and-done is typically just icing on the cake. They are not the ones you build on--they are the ones who take you over the top. So... The key to competing at the highest levels for UConn is the development of the current guards, with the addition of someone ANYONE who can rebound.

He could possible help with the slow starts.

Strengths:
Duarte is a long-armed point guard prospect for the high major level. He rebounds in and out his area, leads the break and is an astute passer. Whether it's advancing the ball in transition or dropping off a bounce pass on a back door cut, his passing skills are impressive. In the half court set he shows a feathery shooting touch and his range extends out to 20-feet. He has a nifty crossover off the pick and roll and he keeps it low and tight. His mid-range skills are evolving as is his mid-range scoring skills.

He's more of a combo guard than a PG, and is 6-foot-5/180 lbs, so he's big enough to play both the 2 & 3 in college. No big names on him yet, and he certainly won't come in right away and change the program. But he's been super productive for the last 12 months against elite competition and his passing is outstanding. And my god do we need more and better passing.

That would be another nail in the coffin. If you can't close with a kid that close that you were on early and spent that much time with, you will never close on an elite one-and-done-type player.

We moved on because we went all-in on Diallo. He wanted to commit here, but the staff told him to wait according to our more plugged in insiders.

Not when you have the entire Boneyard ready to second guess every move.

Of course it was the right move. You live with whatever the results are.

My guess: Ollie knows that getting diallo could help put us back on the national conversation. So to To lose out on a high level recruit in our back yard would be a blow to this programs reputation in the eyes of recruits. Especially since things are tough right now and we NEED to stay recruiting at a high level.

Our NBA presence is diminishing. No young people Know about ray, rip, Caron, Rudy... we have Andre Drummond and kemba--two great ambassadors for the program. But we haven't put someone of not in the league in 4 years now. That won't let you keep up with the big boys.

We can't afford to back out on a pretty good big, but we are fairly deep at the guard positions, and very good at recruiting high level guards. So yes, I think it would be okay to back out on a Beatty. IMHO 6'2-4' athletic shooting guards are a dime a dozen, but don't often pan out when they get to college when they can't bulldoze into the paint (think Rodney).

Never understood that one - he and MAL would've made for a heck of a potential backcourt combo.

I don't follow the ins and outs of recruiting closely enough to be a critic, but I sure hope Ollie and co. know what they're doing with this one.

The narrative some people put out here about having Beatty on a string is completely fabricated. Yes we might've been the leader at one point in time, but I'm almost positive the staff didn't tell him no.

Here's the thing, Ollie has never struggled with recruiting guards so with or without Diallo we still have tons of depth. And are already in good position with another 3-4 guards for 2018. Do I think Beatty becomes a really good player? Yes. But I also think there's about a thousand other things to be complaining about right now, before letting a player at our deepest position go elsewhere
