OT: great voices

Great stuff so far, folks! I've discovered a few new-to-me singers and been reminded of a lot of older ones.

I'm mildly surprised not to have seen Annie Haslam of Renaissance mentioned. Here she is:

Here are two of the best-known (and most-respected) female metal singers doing the dolorosa from an (IIRC) early 20th-century Stabat Mater. (This is in the middle of a metal concert, and the Dutch audience loves it.) Floor definitely does recitals not sure about Simone.

For years, the great blues/rock artist Robin Trower had a terrific lead singer, his bass player, James Dewar. Sadly, Dewar died in 2002. One of my favorite songs by them:

We've mentioned Grace Slick quite a bit, but her co lead, Marty Balin, had a pleading, haunting voice.

He wrote this song, "Today" and sings lead. If you grew up with this song, you never forget it:

B.J. Crosby sings the showstopper from Broadway's Smokey Joe's Cafe. Got a standing ovation every night!
