Great news UConn nation: Jordan Hawkins ready to go

Just like mom used to give us.... toast, saltiness and ginger ale.

This sounds like he is not out of the wooods yet. The thread title is a smidge misleading. Going to the shootaround does not equal surely playing tonight.
There is Zero chance that he doesn’t play. He’ll start and then Hurley will determine the best course of action.

Well, if you to take care of a sick kid, you’d be a little salty too.

The drained comment worries me. Luckily miami might be one of those teams hawkins doesn’t need limitless cardio to get open against

Load him up with IV fluids and electrolytes. He’ll be fine.

The kid is not going to be himself. But we should be focusing on inside and midrange scoring in this game anyway, given the venue. And we should play a lot of zone to force Miami to shoot from the outside and conserve Jordan's energy.

I'm old and have never had a stomach bug that lasted more than a day. Basically, once it's flushed and you're re-hydrated, you're good to go. Anything longer than a day or two would be food poisoning or something I've never had.

I don't think this is gamesmanship, and frankly the tenor of comments from our camp leans concerning if anything. If he were definitely playing and definitely looking good, the commentary would have been a casual "yeah, he'll be fine, nothing to worry about." Pretty much everything from our players and staff smacks of "doth protest too much" about his status.

Even if he is slated to start, that doesn't tell us anything about what he gives us. It is very easy to imagine a situation where come 9:45, Jim Nantz is remarking "You can see Jordan Hawkins on the bench there, towel over his head. He hasn't been in since the 15 minute mark, came out after 5 minutes, 0-2 from the field, and hasn't been back in since. His teammates have struggled to get it going offensively, a combined 2-12 from 3 and Miami has pushed the lead to 40-32 as we enter the final minute of the first half." Big, big uncertainty here.

Well, even if Hawk plays, there is no telling how negatively impacted he will be or if he will be the same player. Whether or not he plays, here's hoping that the Alleyne who scored 28 pts in the first round of the NCAAT in 2021 shows up and an on fire Calcaterra shows up. Really everyone will have to pick up the slack.
