I don't think this is gamesmanship, and frankly the tenor of comments from our camp leans concerning if anything. If he were definitely playing and definitely looking good, the commentary would have been a casual "yeah, he'll be fine, nothing to worry about." Pretty much everything from our players and staff smacks of "doth protest too much" about his status.

Even if he is slated to start, that doesn't tell us anything about what he gives us. It is very easy to imagine a situation where come 9:45, Jim Nantz is remarking "You can see Jordan Hawkins on the bench there, towel over his head. He hasn't been in since the 15 minute mark, came out after 5 minutes, 0-2 from the field, and hasn't been back in since. His teammates have struggled to get it going offensively, a combined 2-12 from 3 and Miami has pushed the lead to 40-32 as we enter the final minute of the first half." Big, big uncertainty here.
Baltimore kid.

Consistently, he’s shown to be a warrior. Now, he may not be as effective; but the gravity of him on the court still matters and we can with him scoring 8-12.

especially if those 12 pts come in a run that breaks the game open like it did vs Iona and St. Mary's. Here's hoping he can give UConn a fully effective game for the entire game.

They will still have to guard him which we need for spacing. Even as a quasi decoy if it comes to that.

With real good shot faking and a quick release, maybe he will still get to the line and get points.

This is the worst comment I’ve ever seen and you should be banned

So much negativity. It’s just as likely they comment that UConn’s early 23 point lead really allowed Hawkins to get some needed rest.

He wouldn’t barley participate In shoot-around if he was all good. This might be bad.

Friggin severe thunderstorm warnings for gametime where I live. Said seek low shelter if needed. Great timing.

Well, even if Hawk plays, there is no telling how negatively impacted he will be or if he will be the same player. Whether or not he plays, here's hoping that the Alleyne who scored 28 pts in the first round of the NCAAT in 2021 shows up and an on fire Calcaterra shows up. Really everyone will have to pick up the slack.

Maybe its another flu game…

Looks like he lost at least 10 pounds. I hope he can be effective. I might start Joey C
