Did anyone see Joe Lunardi's latest bracketology? I know it's not that accurate but if it stays the same with the top 2 seeds, we could make a run. Out of the east it would be #1 Cuse #2 Duke #3 Michigan.

I don't feel as good about the team as I did at say, the 8 minute mark of today's game. I do think this team is getting a lot closer, but it still concerns me that this team has yet to put together a full game. If they can't play 40 good minutes in the regular season, I have a hard time seeing them do it in the postseason against better competition.

Gottlieb said after the game that "UConn has the talent to play in the third weekend, but they probably won't make it through the first". Unfortunately, I agree with him. It took a complete WVU meltdown to get to the quarter finals, and they'll certainly be playing better teams than that in the tournament.

I agree that they probably won't make it through the first round, but not for the same mindless, clownish, misinformed reasons that Gottlieb comes up with.

It took an entire regular season for the team to come together last season.

There has been no continuity this year, no need to rehash the obvious here. What has it been, 10 days as a complete team with the head coach back in place?

It may simply be that they run out of time this year to gel as a team. With ALL they have endured this year, I was pretty impressed with their showing in the BE tournament. The little fractures that cost them the game today would have been healed over the course of a long season, had all the pieces been in place.

To make it past the first weekend our guards have to defend better and can't make some of the mindless turnovers they made today. You always run into a team with good 3-point shooters in the tourney and we can't be 15 feet away when those shooters catch the pass. Having two guards that are height challenged is a problem especially Boat. Last year Kemba had alot of his impact on defense. We aren't getting that defense this year with the 3 guard rotation even though Lamb made a better effort today. Shabazz really turned it up against WVU but sometimes it seems like the guards are saving themselves effort wise on D for a later time in the game. The staff needs to recognize this and sub guys out that are coasting on D. We don't score well enough to do this.

The kid really has no idea what this even means. He is years, not days, from understanding it. Tremendously gifted physically, but mentally, emotionally and psychologically he is the functional equivalent of Baby Huey.

Unfair. No reason to be putting down Huey.

If Huey had AD's talent ....

Ha! I literally LOL'd, and I rarely LOL at anything I read on the computer.

Re Huey, I'm serious. I've thought that about AD for several weeks now and I can't get it out of my head every time I see him. He is simply a very large child. His disposition, posture, everything. I have no idea what is going on in his head, and I don't think he does, either. He seems happiest just plugged into his iPod headphones and moseying around like he doesn't have a care in the world or any place to be, and he'd be happiest just curled up with his blankie. Someday he may have some fire, but as I've said in another post, I think more than anyone he really missed out on having the guy who knows how to breathe fire (lovingly, of course) let him know that HE IS A MAN AMONG BOYS, DAMMIT, and he needs to play that way.

What we really need is a Larry Johnson type of player. Are there any recruits in that mold still available for 2012?
Yeah, Anthony Bennett. He's been compared to Larry Johnson, as a matter of fact. UConn was on him pretty hard but unfortunately are not on his current list.

Given that we are probably an 8 or 9 seed, it isn't going out on a limb to say we won't survive the first weekend - we won't be expected to.

Bracketology said Duke in Greensboro round 2. Of course both Duke and UNC get their usual NCAA home games to start. Nothing would be finer than to slaughter Duke in their home-away-from-home BS .

Although I had to google Baby Huey, when I found his description I did chuckle quite a bit, ya, a lot, even though I think it's kinda mean. I like that he seems innocent and happy, although I wish he would go to the dark side for games.

Syracuse is 31-1 (that's just ridiculous given the strength of the BE). Give them some credit for the result of today's game. They had a little bit to do with it. I see Syracuse as similar to in the 90's when Ray Allen's team ran into UCLA or other year's when we ran into the wrong matchup in the NCAA tourney. They are just the worst match-up for us and we'll have success against other teams. I hope someone bumps them off or at least we get deep into the tourney before we meet them for the 4th time.

Of course, Cuse has to get credit. But we were up 8 and then lost the ability to play offense. Bad shots, bad execution, lack of player/ball movement. Essentially everything we did to build a lead, we stopped doing. Give credit Syracuse credit for adjusting, but where exactly was ours? Gottleib blasted us after the game for our execution and he was right. Also, we were very fortunate to even get by WVU. So saying that we have now "got it" is a bit premature. We are very dangerous, but we really have not played a complete game this year.

Agreed a very dangerous team and I would think it would haunt a 1 or 2 if they see UConn in their bracket. Having said that our Huskies are also dangerous to themselves. They are plain awful with leads, get full of themselves and do not take care of the ball. Call it too fancy or careless, but it's an issue and they won't close a win against a real good team until they fix that and kick teams while they're down!

We have two Bobby Bouchers on our team in Drummond and Lamb. Maybe it's time for JC to apply a little Waterboy psychology to get them pissed off. :)

I disagree. They played great basketball against very good non-conference competition early (and all of) last year. They let down or lost it during the BE schedule. But they (especially Kemba) were very good in Maui, for example.

One word I would use for last year's team when it was at it's best is "relentless". They chased boards. They defended to the whistle. They showed no signs of quitting when down. That was an extension of Kemba's personality. That's part of what made them so much fun and so easy to root for. I haven't seen much (any?) of that this year. The next time I use that adjective for AD will be the first - and I think he's a huge talent and a great kid.

If you had posted this with 12 minutes left in the game I would have totally agreed. Unfortunately the guys did their best to convince me otherwise.

I think they are close but I was just very puzzled by the offensive display over the final 5 minutes.
