Grantland trolling UCONN

Wow. That was a really weak effort. Yeah, Jacko. We get it. Little rich boy with the famous friend doesn't like UConn's coach or fans. Let's sock that one away in the "Evidence of Grantland.com's suckitude" file.

its the same *** from the BS Report podcast, Simmons probably couldn't wait to give him a platform to write this garbage.

*awaits progrocks nearly breaking his neck while running to his desk to post for us to stop complaining if someone writes something negative about UConn*

Who's the author of that crap? Jacko or is it Jerk0? His 3 points weren't even reasons to why UConn will not repeat as NCs. It was just an opportunity for him to bash a program he doesn't like. In fact, it was less professional than most posts we read on this forum and is filled with half-truths.

Whoever is the admin for that .com should take that off their site. I've lost any respect I might have had for Grantland. He took cheapshots at the State, University, JC and even Kemba Walker.

I hope one of us remembers this blog entry and can wipe his face with it after we repeat as NCs next April.

Really?

Why not 350 words on why he hates strawberry ice cream? Or an article on why he thinks that Glee is the best show on TV?

Why does ANYONE give a crap about this guy's likes and dislikes?

I only skimmed it. Was any of it about basketball?

i.e. the only thing that's going to determine whether they repeat or not.

.-.
Wow...that was comically bad. It was what it claimed to be - the snapshot of the mind of a UConn anti-homer. I have no idea why anyone would take pride in that piece of , but to each his own.

Bill Simmons and friends have always struck me as weak. I caught Simmons's act early as Boston Sports Guy on Yahoo in the mid 1990s. He was universally laughed out for his football analysis. At the time, I didn't know he knew anything about basketball, but his coverage of the Patriots was worse than bad.

I was going to try to contact someone from Grantland, but they don't even seem to have a way to do it. That alone shows you how bush this site is that they don't even want reader feedback.

There may be several reasons why any NC will not repeat their success the next year and UCONN is no different.

Sadly these a**es are clueless as to any reasons why this may occur and certainly are incapable of supporting an argument with basketball knowledge, logic or facts.

Geez, that was terrible. He has a right to say that stuff, but to put it on a website that's supposed to be a glorified place for sports journalism--that's just awful. It's called journalism for a reason.

Get some facts and come back and see me, Jacko

Jacko's lost...He couldn't find his way through a maze even if the rats helped him.

If it was a well-reasoned, analytical piece on why UConn wouldn't win, I'd respect that. Hell, given the single-elim NCAA's and the bevy of other powerhouses this year, it's not a difficult argument to make.

.-.
All the UConn haters leave out how UConn's academic reputation and facilities have skyrocketed over the past twenty years. You could make a strong argument that the school's growth is directly linked to the success of the basketball teams. With success comes jealousy. Have mistakes been made, yes. However, mistakes were made more frequently at UCLA under Wooden. That Grantland article was absurd. That guy admitted he didn't like UConn because before 1999 HC was the only NE school to win a NC. I wonder if George Blaney feels the same way?(sarcasm)

Some seriously weak, message board style, arguments there. Hasn't the whole Kemba book thing been clarified?

Dude was obviously grabbing at straws here. If I didn't know better, I would think he just went to the Providence Scout board and searched for all topics with UConn in them to get material.

Also, definitely a low blow to include an entire section essentially bashing UConn academics.

LOL at Jacko even mentioning Drummonds Adidas video where he uttered two words and was immediately identified as a non-story. And a marijuana arrest? C'mon man

.-.
This article should be called "Why I Hate UConn" instead of "Why UConn Will Not Repeat as NAtional Champion" because he failed to provide one fact stating why they will not win. Instead he just goes on how much he hates UConn, well thats fine, no one gives a rats ass what you think. But enjoy another season rooting for Holy Cross, that must be very exciting year after year!

It's very simple: he's a part of this community, and has twice now gone out of his way to crap on one of the things that's unique and special about this state. That's not acceptable on any level. You don't have to like UConn basketball, but to go out of your way to crap on it is what I take issue with.

I think those who might make use of his legal services should choose alternate providers. I'm dead serious. Don't where you eat, dude.

He's right about JC's attitude toward reporters. I cover the Huskies at one time and was enbarrassed at how he handled even reasonable, basketball related questions at times. I'm not talking about, "Not a dime," that jerk deserved his repsonse, I'm referring to legitimate questions. You can't treat reporters, or anyone, that way and not expect retribution. I love JC, but he offended the wrong group of people.

Pretty interesting story. He doesn't like UConn because:

1) can't get a seat for a game,

2) can't follow JC's stream of consciousness,

3) too many hoopsters go to NBA, and

4) UConn is not as crooked as KY, etc.

Actually, I thought the article was funny. If you understand the Simmons universe, JackO is the only person with an opinion on UConn, and after all the crap he has said through the years I loved that he wrote something. Yes it had nothing to do with the title, but that was not the point. Mr. Complex Litigation is a tool, and he let out all of his tool-i-ness in that piece, so I thought it was great. No one at ESPN is saying that UConn cant win but those other teams can win, it is just having fun, playing on a running gag, especially after all the hate mail I am sure they received after his previous comments and hatred.

.-.
as annoying as it is, you could literally write an article exactly similar for most big college sports teams. Kansas, Kentucky, UNC, ohio state.... . If you live in Ohio, people will talk about the ohio state game the day before. I think its a little jealousy that no one cares or talks about holy cross

You must have a very juvenile sense of humor if you thought that was funny. I was embarrassed for Jocko as I read it. He is either a) pretending to be stupid, or b) actually stupid.

That's kind of lose-lose if you ask me.

He is a tool. He wrote the piece that allowed him to further come off as a tool. He has trashed UConn and we win, I can care less what he thinks because it does not matter. If someone wrote why we would win the national championship I would not care much because it does not matter. I think last season proves that you never know what the hell can happen, and preseason prognostications mean jack-o.

I heard this guy on the radio last year before our NC run. I believe it was ESPN radio. I think it was either Cowherd or Gottlieb, or someone else. He is a friend of whomever the host was. His rant was almost word for word what he wrote in the article other than the current events. He is a one trick pony with the same tired song. OK we get it you hate Uconn. But at least hate us with some new material.

That was pretty bad, I admit. JackO is a charity case. Kind of like LeBetard's father's without the brains. I still have Grantland bookmarked, though.

.-.
If you guys want him to wither away into nothingness, the worst thing you can do is talk about him.

He's got the pulse of the program. It's really tough to get tickets for sure.

His article could basically be summarized as, "I liked UConn before it was mainstream."

Good for you, UConn Hipster.

Makes no sense. UConn sold out the HCC all the time even before JC got there.

He is an insurance company attorney in hartford, who cares what he thinks. He likes it when UConn fans go after him, just like he enjoys it when he can piss on the red sox. If you see him as a troll, the number one rule of the internet is to not feed trolls, so therefore ignore the man.

+1
or click onto the article. No reason to validate the article. He's just someone expressing his dislike to a program. This board does it all the time to Duke and BC. And sometimes to Georgetown and Pitt. It doesn't change one thing about the accomplishments of the men's program anymore than our ridicule changes the accomplishment of Duke. Just juvenile behavior all around.

.-.
how in the hell does he have over 30k followers on twitter? there are that many people that care what dude has to say?

there was a time when i enjoyed bill simmons and his writing style. i have read enough now to know that he is not a writer, he is a resuscitator of gimmicks. it seems that his buddy jack-o similarly lives in the past.
