Boatirght played with some heart, more than anyone else did at least, but did make some horrible passes and pouted a few times after said terrible passes. If Bilas had said this there would not be a peep, but some posters on this board are infatuated with Gottlieb, and frankly its sad.

The whole game was an abortion. Lets move on.

He is a hater, not necessarily of UConn, but he just makes his living by hating. You rarely hear him make a call/analysis of how a player did something well. It's his thing. He does have some great analysis on occasion.

That's because he realized his ability to jinx uconn after picking against us all last year (see how that worked out for him?).

I think he realized that he basically jinxes everything related to us so he picked us #1 and said Bazz would be the first PG taken in the draft as well (see how that has worked out so far?)

His hatred for uconn is obvious. Maybe you should start paying attention

That I can agree with, people on here just take it so personally. It is time for some of the posters on here to put their big boy pants on and get out of your moms basement.

No matter what else he does, the Roscoe Smith thing puts Gottlieb on a different level. Publicly urging a recruit to decommit? That's over the line.

I do. I think he likes Carolina too. And Connecticut. And Syracuse. And Rick Pitino. And John Calipari. And Jared Sullinger. And Kansas. And living in Florida. And Notre Dame. And being Italian. He likes everything. What in the world is your point and what the **** does that have to do with this embarrassing, paranoid theory that certain media members go out of their way to "hate" UConn? Like Gottlieb sits at home pounding his fist into his hand thinking how much he hates a school he has no connection to whatsoever.
 
Gottleib was also the one who wrote an incredibly pro JC article a few years ago that had everyone on the board praising him and saying he was one of the only true, impartial analysts... Really don't think he hates UConn; just think he's a dick who is critical of lots of schools the same way Dickie V has a love fest over many schools.
 
ESPN headquarters (as we all know) are in Connecticut, so it's not outrageous to think he gets a little annoyed at our fan base and enjoys getting under our skin from time to time. He's not a bad analyst at all - he gives good insight, and many times he's spot on with pointing out what's successful or unsuccessful. There are times, though, when he crosses lines. The Roscoe Smith comments were outrageous and almost to the level of a fireable offense, frankly - you can't be using your analyst chair to influence recruits. If he sat there and said Roscoe Smith should really go to Oklahoma State, it's a clear NCAA violation, and it isn't that far down that slope to try to influence recruits not to go places. Earlier this year, he also said Boatright was suspended six games for an "off court incident", which was an extremely poor choice of wording - the sort of wording that a professional broadcaster should get right. And be repimanded for if they don't.

His Boatright comments yesterday? He might not have been 100 percent incorrect, but I think he was off-base and it isn't out of bounds to call him on it (unlike, say, picking against us in the NCAA Tournament - who cares who analysts pick anyway?). He could have picked on anyone else besides Boatright and been spot on (or Roscoe - who played hard). Whatever moments of selfishness he might have displayed were snapshots in the middle of a day in which he battled pretty hard, and were more the product of a freshman dealing with getting his ass kicked for one of the few times in his life. Gottlieb pouted too as a player - especially when he watched what happened to his foul shots when they reached the rim.

Bilas did call out Drummond at one point - "what is he doing? On what level of basketball is that an acceptable shot?" And he was right. So nobody called him out on it. If you reversed those two comments, and had Bilas say "Boatright was terrible, selfish, etc." and Gottlieb saying the Drummond comments - we'd ignore Gottlieb and would be discussing Bilas. Except our condemnation would be more reserved ("Bilas is usually better than that," etc.), but that's the result of opinions that have been shaped over time.

i should have asked that a different way becuase u didn't take it the way i was looking for.

dickie v goes out of his way to root and talk up duke and even more so for coach k. he doesn't go that far for other schools and coaches. he favors duke somewhat. thats his thing, im ok with it and will make fun of it time to time like others but its nothing negative or personal. he talks up unc, kansas and uconn to a smaller degree then duke/coach k but gives other teams some face time. no way you can argue that otherwise. thats exactly how the man does stuff. you could be watching a zona vs gonzaga game and he would find a way to talk about duke.

doug g on the other hand is fair about most teams. he has had some good things to say about uconn here and there. but he doesn't jumps all over teams that much, rarely goes after players or recruits. if hes gone after 20 teams/coaches/players/recruits over the past 3 years, then 10 of those 20 have been uconn related. he goes out of his way to bash something about uconn or ct. its happened way WAY to many times not the past 3 years for it to be just a haha thing. bristol/roscoe/miles(clearly worse language in 1 segment than others)/boatright and so on down the line...

this guy will forever hold a grudge vs JC becuase JC told him he wasn't good enough to play for him and he ended up @ okst swiping cards.

Quite possibly the dumbest thing I've ever read. Gottlieb is a big fan of Calhoun. A BIG fan of Calhoun, personally and professionally. Where did you get this ridiculous grudge theory? It's based on nothing. The kid would have gone to UCLA if he hadn't gone to Notre Dame (which is where the credit card thing happened, by the way).

where does ucla come in with this? cuase the guy was from cali so thats the close to home pick? if u were a big time recruit and u were from cali and had offers from ucla and nd back then where would u go? i would pick ucla, wouldn't u??? what was he legacy or something? boy that turned out well then. and if hes a bit of a character(stole money so he must be a funny guy) then why would u pick south bend over cali??? i know he went to nd then somewhere like prep school and ended up at okst where i bet he was swiping credit cards again. tb pickens card. guy is a jerk who lately has been all over uconn for negative stuff while most ppl are all over teams for positive stuff. sticks out like a terrorist at a nascar race.

so doug is a fan of JC? then why would he tell one of JC's recruits on national tv that he should not go there...is that how friends treat each other? dickie v seems to be doing the opposite for duke, same with digger and nd, and so on.

i stand pat that DG has a interest in downing uconn in the media. is it that important in the overall thing? no, but i don't enjoy it one bit.
