Another decade? We have several NBA prospects on this team RIGHT NOW. Bazz, Boat, Daniels, Purvis, Omar are NBA locks (worst case 2nd rd picks) and then we have guys that can develop into pros like Facey. I really believe this years team can go to the Final Four with favorable match ups and good health.

Part of Ollie's job is to get UConn into that "blue blood" group. Right now we're another good decade away, and when we finally get there, then he'll be able to pick and choose his recruits a little more.

(If you're curious: Kentucky, UNC, UCLA, Duke, Kansas and IU are the blue bloods, with Louisville, us, Michigan State and Syracuse knocking on the door to one extent or another)

ucla has done nothing for awhile now, same with IU. we have to take either of their spots, you know.... being the best team in the last 15 years. plus having the same amount of NAT as Kansas, who you labeled as a blue blood. just because you're a blueblood does not mean you have to recruit as well as them, i mean look at our success with "less". we also played in a MUCH better conference then Kanses when we won those NAT titles, while also tying the record for BE championships. in short, WE ARE A BLUE BLOOD

i know but i disagree. boatright will be a good college player and maybe a pro if he improves his court vision and reduces his TPG. he's smaller than nate robinson who could barely find a job this offseason and isn't 1/8 the player nate is at this point in time. but on another note, i love watching this kid play when he's on.

He's small but nowhere near as small as Nate Robinson. At least 2-3 inches taller.

Yes. The same Indiana that walked right into our backyard and got a kid we really, really wanted this past year (Vonleh). Think we could do the same to them?

Also worth noting that IU has done everything possible to destroy that program over the past two decades, but once they got a reasonably competent coach they bounced back with great recruiting classes and lots of national buzz. Same with UCLA when they were down for a while, and Kentucky and Louisville as well.

That's what blue bloods do. Their brands and name recognition are - right or wrong - strong enough to sustain them even when they hire a bad coach (or a series of bad coaches in IU's case). They will always be relevant.

I don't believe we're in that circle yet despite the fact that we're clearly the best team of the last 15 years both on accomplishments and the number and quality of players we've put into the league. If we'd hired the wrong guy, there's probably a better chance we become post-Oscar Cincinnati than there is that we'd join the blue bloods.

But we didn't hire the wrong guy. Ollie will get us another banner, and I think we're right there - though we may need CR to truly get to the dance. Look what it's done for Louisville.

I don't see where the notion that Duke is too good for Goodluck came from. He's a five star recruit and potential McDonald's All-American. 90% of Duke fans would be thrilled to have him.

being a blue blood is not just recruiting. thats like saying kansas is so much better than uconn because they recruit better. even though they have the same amount of NAT, and uconns conference titles up until now have been more impressive than theirs. how does recruiting=blue blood?

Not curious at all but I can safely say that with 3 NCs in past 15 years UCONN can certainly lay claim with Duke, the "modern era" UCLA, Kansas, Kentucky, UNC and IU and perhaps Louisville as blue bloods.
Syracuse? if they are what about Gtown, FLA?
Ollie has to PROLONG the blue blood pedigree this husky program already has and earned

I think UConn needs to succeed with more than one coach -- until that happens, Jim Calhoun will be viewed as a blue blood coach, but UConn won't be viewed as a blue blood program. Fair or not.
