Gonzaga Post Game Thread

Great way to go into BE play and with only 1 loss that could have been a win.

We were out rebounded by 6 with only four ORB’s but when you control the tempo, move the ball unselfishly and shoot 55% you’re going to win games.

If you had to nitpick.

Got sloppy at one point. Coulda gone ugly against a better team.

Guys didn’t feel like rebounding today. Was extremely noticeable with Don out.

Diarra is probably our 5th best player right now, Castle seems rusty. This will probably alleviate with time.

So impressed with Karaban. He's a ninja, stealth 11 points, but such a high basketball IQ, understand when and how to attack the hoop.

A lot of guys on this team knows their roles. Fun to watch. Great game
I could do without the forced shots in the 2H

Outrebounded and it showed. Rewound on most missed defensive possessions...simply did not box out. Johnson numerous times started the box out and came off to jump straight up. Gotta push back and explode to the ball. We didn't do the work early enough when the ball went up

Am I bugging or was the Watson 3 that stood as their lone 3 for quite some time well within the 3pt arc? Was it reviewed during a timeout and does college do that like the NBA?
I thought the same thing. He clearly had a foot about 8” inside the arc

One more nitpick, why didn’t Newton give the ball to Stewart at the end there?

It’s not a big deal but it kind of bothered me.

'They got more offensive rebounds because they missed more shots.

Nice win with some really crappy play during big stretches. This team is so good they can get away with being very sloppy and turn it on when they need to. I expect they will get caught with their pants down at some point in Jan or early Feb which might actually be good to get them re-dialed in going into March.

Math checks out. And they still had zero issue taking this wire to wire.

But honestly, 14 offensive rebounds against any Hurley coached team is atrocious. Especially seeing it was a lot of lack of focus on execution. That's even with the scouting report having Zags as a good offensive rebounding team.

Newton was our fourth or fifth best player tonight and we coasted in basically a road game against Gonzaga. When your first team all-American candidate is hardly noticeable in that kind of game it shows how good a team you have.

Gonzaga had no one who could handle Clingans size and Hurley took advantage especially early. It was nice to see don have a good game. 21-8 and two blocks. Big.

Once castle gets it going this team is going to be really hard to beat. One of those teams that you never know who will go off on a given night.

Show me the updated Kenpom numbers cowards!
We're up to #3.
