Gonzaga/Creighton

Just gotta hang around and give themselves a chance.

Gonzaga doesn’t impress me on the defensive side of the ball at all. I guess if you can shoot 65% to your opponents 50% than so be it but that model won’t work forever.

Yes- as I open this thread stating a short handed Oklahoma team made Gonzaga’s D look like Swiss cheese.

Rooting for Creighton to represent the league, but I've been a minor Zags fan since 99. They've had some heartaches, but generally very competitive for 20 years now. They deserve a win.

Too much Zags...not enough Zegs. They need two of him today.

Creighton doing a lot right. Just need to hit their shots. IMO Gonzaga is a very good team but not head and shoulders above the rest. Final 4 probably but not guaranteed. Confidence is needed here. They look tight.

I have lost respect for their program after their shenanigans. Hope Creighton chokes.
Could you please clarify? All I see is a well-coached team playing hard. Not aware of any program-wide shenanigans, but maybe there are some.

If you are talking about what a coach said one time (well, he doubled down during that motivating speech) and calling that shenanigans ... I have lost respect for you.

Ion Eagle...”It’s gonna take a Herculean effort to knock off this team”. I’d say it’s hyperbole...but it really isn’t.

Creighton has missed at least 5-7 point blank layups in this game. Looks like us...
Yeah just can't do that against the Zags. Because the Zags don't do the same (they're the best shooting team at the rim in the country).

Kalkbrenner is awful. This game is too big for him. They’re playing 5 on 4 basically.

this one is over. Gonzaga is the first, well maybe the 2nd team (Georgetown), to exploit Bishop's lack of size in the paint. Plus, if Creighton isn't shooting well, they will almost always lose. They aren't going to play shut down defense, although it's above average, control the boards, force turnovers, or beat you in other ways (think Houston).

Jesus. Gonzaga's gonna be in the conversation of greatest teams in the 64-team era if they play like this for another week.

Gonzaga is in the NBA
The rest of the field is college

Baylor is the only team with a chance to beat Gonzaga. I figured they’d fold after facing the Pepperdine’s of the world for months, but nope. They are legit. I can’t believe how good they are.

Does our big east fellow have a shot at the upset verse the undefeated Gonzaga?

I think this Creighton team plays better defense than people think- my major concern is Creighton’s depth- really only play 6 impact players. With that said, I do believe Gonzaga is beatable- although their guards are tough & grind- their bigs look soft- I actually think they should be playing the big Watson more- he brings toughness & a physicality that the other bigs don’t.

I saw way too many straight line penetrations to the basket by a short handed Oklahoma team last week that gives me concern about Gonzaga.
I think this game might be closer than what the public thinks- especially if Creighton can stay out of foul trouble.
I really hope Gonzaga wins it all.

Oregon and USC have looked terrific in this tournament too.

I wouldn’t hand them them the title based on blowing out creighton who is charmin soft.
