Who had the unenviable task of starting at catcher for the Yankees the first game after Thurman Munson died?

Fran Healey? Spoke with him many times when his daughters were taking lessons and playing tennis tournaments in the late 80s and early 90s.

Very nice family.

It was Jerry Narron, no?

Yep. I googled after I posted. I had thought Fran was back up to Munson, but apparently he retired just before Munson died.

I think it was Jerry Narron. I was at that game. Sat 3 rows from the top in right field with my brother and godfather. I still get teary-eyed thinking about it.

Only two players in major league history have over 450 HRs and 10 or more steals of home plate. Name them.
Willie mays and hank aaron? Or frank Robinson? Actually, I'll throw hank Greenberg.
(This is an awesome question btw)

I’ll say……

1) Mantle
2) Barry Bonds
3) Mays
4) Jimmie Foxx
5) Gehrig
6) Pete Rose
7) Roger Maris
8) Frank Thomas
9) Johnny Bench
10) Joe Maurer
11) Cobb
12) Lou Brock
13) Yaz

I’m sure of 5, rest are guesses
Good stuff on your first guess:
Mantle
Bonds
Foxx
Maris
Thomas are the correct answers

Damn Dumo... That's a good one.

1B Frank Thomas, Pujols... Not sure on the third.
2B Joe Morgan
SS Ernie Banks?
3B Schmidt
OFs Mantle, Bonds, Dale Murphy, Maris
C Yogi or Bench

No idea on Pitcher
Man, you continue to impress me with your baseball knowledge.
Thomas
Everyone of these is correct. Except for Bench

Here’s three………

1) Name the MLB player holds the record for the most RBI’s in a season (191) and the player who had the 2nd most (185) in a season?

2) Who hit 58 HR’s in 1938?

3) Who had a batting average of 364, hit 58 HR’s and had 169 RBI’s in 1932.

No fair Googling
1 & 3 - Hack Wilson
1b - Lou Gehrig (although I contend that his best RBI year was 1927 as Ruth emptied the bases in front of him 60 times).
2 - Hank Greenberg (?) not fully sure as I thought it wsa 59

This was an alltime great trivia question a few decades ago when only nine players had done it, coincidentally, one for each position. Yogi was the cathcher, Hal Newhouser was the pitcher (during WWII so not against a full complement of MLB caliber players). Jimmy Foxx was the other first baseman.

Correct with Newhouser. I had no idea about the ww2

Whoa... Totally wild guess but I'll say Mays and Ruth. And Ruth only because he was an idiotic baserunner and would have attempted to steal home far too many times.
I feel like it has to be real old-timey, more to do with how common it was to try to steal home than with how fast the runner is. Like, Ken Griffey Jr. is a sensible guess, but not possibly correct because nobody steals home anymore (or even in the 90s).

Damn. Given those two choices, never would've guessed it was the fat white guy.

Speaking of stolen bases, most know that Elly De La Cruz was the last player to steal 2nd, 3rd and home in the same inning, having done it just last year with the Reds. Who was the last guy in the AL to do it?

The Matthews have like 7 over 3 generations.
Six Sutter Brothers played in the NHL at the same time, the earliest started in the late 1970's and the last in the mid 1990's. At least four sons have made it to the NHL and I believe there are a couple more who will in the reasonably near future.

In the Blockbuster 1975 NHL trade between the Rangers and Bruins that sent Phil Esposito and Carol Vadnais to New York and Jean Ratelle and Brad Park to Boston, who was the 5th player added to the trade sent from NY to Boston?

1 - I despised that trade when it happened and it is still a sore subject. It happened shortly after they let Giacomin go and I wanted to take a bat to Emil Francis' head.
2 - It was a minor league throw-in with an Italian last name. John or Joe I believe, last name was something like Zanelli.

Who is the only player in MLB history to hit two grand slams in the same inning?
