We ran double screens to get RIP open. We were working to get him the ball. It's not desire. No such plays exist for Giffey. That is the point.

I've agree we should run such plays -- not so much because Giffey is great at shooting off screens, he's not, but because depth is our strength at the 3, we have 3 guys who can start at that position, our 3s should be playing at high intensity and running their defenders ragged. 40 minutes of chasing a fresh shooter and colliding into screens will give us an exhausted defender by the end of the game. We do need to diversify our offense away from Bazz and Boat, and the most likely opportunity for gains is from the 3-spot.

They have made a decision not to run a single play for Giffey.

It is a conscious decision. They never run a play to get him open for a three.

For 25+ years, UConn has run a flex offense through its guards. We don't "run plays" for people aside from the occasional set play coming out of a stoppage. It must be very confusing for you to watch basketball with only a superficial understanding of what is happening on the court.

So do we think Ollie and the boys are reading this board to figure out how to fix the team, or do we think they are smart enough to figure this out on their own?

They say the right things, that isn't the problem.

Ollie has to design plays that specifically get Giffey open for 3s.

I'm not sure how everyone can say he's not "good shooting off screens"?? I've been watching him play for 4 years and seen him come off of screens about…..well I'm not even sure i have more than a couple times!

I promise him coming off screens is a better shot than a TO or one of our bigs driving to the hole………I say give it a try with a 65% 3 point shooter!

Why do you think that is Palatine?

People keep referring to Giffey as a 62 percent three-point shooter. He's not. He's been here three years, and he shot 32, 43 and 29 percent from three. This indicates he's an average shooter who went on a serious hot streak. Maybe there's a reason we haven't remade our offense to free him up.

I'm also not sure why no one wants to credit opposing defenses. He came into this year as an afterthought. All the sudden he's hitting every jumper in sight. Teams will adjust to that, and have.

Everyone is comfortable with the idea that we know, after three and a half years, who Tyler Olander is. Yet somehow Giffey is different and now finds himself in the Hamilton/Gordon conversation. He's not.
He's a great guy to have on your team, but he's also been elevated to ridiculous heights around here.
