Xavier was in the bonus at 14 min, in the double bonus at 11 min. They shot 14 FTs in the second half before we shot one. They shot 20 more free throws than us in a blowout.

This is not sustainable. This conference is an absolute travesty.

The Big East is just terrible basketball. Terrible officiating. It’s not even the Big East anymore really. Why are we playing Catholic schools from Nebraska and Ohio.

Yesterday I felt like the officials were essentially trying to keep it from being a 30 point blow out so they gave X about 10 free points from the line. The most egregious call was early in the game where Silas got called for his second foul on a clear held ball.

I was driving last night and heard an interview with the ex ProJo guy who is now does a NBE blog. He was talking about officiating in the league vs the NCAA and how other refs don’t allow the “the kind of defense they play in the Big East”. The it hurts a lot of teams but might help UConn. Though he did caution that our lack of depth could be an issue if we try to play NBE defense.

it is not a conspiracy. It is a decision to market the league as rough, tough, thuggish play conference. UCONN plays defense like that too. You almost have to, but not offense. So we get these weird results.

I feel dirty for even saying this, but Rutty wasn't terrible in the Big East. Their football team had some decent years getting 11 wins in 2006 (with 3 9-win seasons afterwards) and their women's BBall team made the NCAA championship game...I remember this cuz Don Imus made some st00p3d racist remarks about that team that led to his firing. That said, now that they're "rolling" in Big10 money and can't get 3 of their teams in any post-season play...

Boston Collegevwas actually pretty good in their early years in the ACC. Their problems have more to do with mismanagement and poor coaching hires than anything. They went to the NCAA tournament 2005-2009 I think. After that it was almost like they lost interest. On the football side they have also been badly managed. And they haven’t kept coaches.

Rutgers is Rutgers.
