2 really good quarters, 2 average quarters. About 20 minutes of high quality basketball. That's not good enough. They need to do better.
Our bigs need to rebound better and play more aggressive with shots around the hoop. They pass up a lot of open shooting opportunities that might put them on the line as well. They also need to keep the ball higher but mostly take it down when quick guards can steal or tie it up. This is late in the season for continued questionable play from our centers.
The 4th quarter was sloppy with too much forced passing when the shooting opportunity was clear.

When our quick team is on the court we come up with many tie-ups and much better flow. Love the impressive squaring up and fast releases of Azzie and Sarah. Ash looked for her shot with good success. We need a more consistent third scorer as that need isn't being met from our centers. Even when they receive a pass in good position, they have trouble scoring. Geno's facial expressions with some of our center's efforts appears strained when the cameras pan to him.

She was late covering on a G-Town 3. Came right out, Geno starting to tell her something, then the camera cut to a commercial or something. Whatever he said, she came back out and performed very well!
A bit ADHD on defense at times where she gets too distracted by screens or trying to steal the ball. She was much better the 2nd time around.

K9 is coming. KK needs to get her shooting & scoring together because, K9 is getting better on defense as well, and in my opinion, a better passer overall. I just wish that Allie would improve more on defense; she is somewhat tentative. Also why are we missing free throws. Free throws are like gold. Open lay ups are also.
K9 does seem the superior distributor, which will be a bigger factor when the offense isn't just Sarah and Azzi playing off each other.

I like that they both bring different elements to the position, though. It allows Geno to change the look with only a like-for-like type (PG for PG) and not going big or small or something more dramatic.

Were we just sluggish in the first period or were they really on? Actually lots of good things in the box score. Q's steals to t/o ratio 4 to 1. Pretty good. Though I wonder why rebounds are light. Has Sarah broken her spirit or is she just playing mostly out of range? On the first period, we have done this more than a few times. Regular season OK. NCAAs no so OK. We may go into the NCAAs with the most rested starting 5 in college ball. Wondering some on KK in this game. Sareh hit a couple of shots but didn't stay long. In 3 minutes Kellis sure got things moving. Allie decided to slump. Kayleigh and Ash just keep on trucking. Has Sarah gone into a minisophomore slump. I know, she was a rebounding fiend. Am I a spoiled Husky fan? Absolutely, but it is all their fault.
Sara was 3 assists short of a triple double in 23 minutes every player would like to slump like that

Come on, KK may not have had one of her better offensive performances but she still had 4 assists (could have been 8 easily but several perfect dishes were not converted) and no turnovers and was the major disruptor on defense as usual. Nothing against Kaleigh but to suggest she is a better passer or distributor or that KK’s job as lead point guard or starter is in jeopardy to her or anyone else as has been suggested at least twice now is unfathomable. She is the best all around point guard in the country imo and let’s not forget that she has proven herself already in the last 2 ncaa tournaments where she excelled in the highest level pressure games.

So ... with our 46st straight win we have now tied TN for the 6th longest winning streak in NCAA D1 history. Fittingly it came on a night when the current TN team ran their losing streak to 5, and broke their own TN record for a ten game stretch of futility, upping it to 2-8.

If we win at MSG, we will tie the Uconn 2013-14 teams for 5th place.

NB - between 2013 and 2017 Uconn had a one loss streak of 168-1

Someone illuminate me. With 6 minutes left and up 30 points they're still in full court pressure defense. How come?
Like the old joke: a middle-aged violinist approaches a young man on the streets of New York and inquires: "Excuse me, can you tell me how to get to Carnegie Hall?". "Practice, man, practice."

Do you want to be illuminated ,or is it you just wanted to find something to complain about like you usually do?

Where did I say her job was in jeopardy?

While far from the best point guard in the country, she does an excellent job with this team. KK does a fine job of working within the offense and I think she is a steady hand.

But she is not as proficient as K9 at creating and finding open looks for her teammates. K9 also makes more questionable decisions, so there is a give and take.

Which is why what I did say is that I like that they offer different ways to play the same position because having alternatives is good (which in no ways implies benching a senior KK to start games).
