And by the way, for all those complaining about the last 8 minutes and our metrics. Almost every one of these sites doesn't include garbage time minutes like we saw today for this exact reason. They don't want to encourage coaches to feel the need to run up the score
The complaint is not running up the score for metrics. It’s that sloppy close/out breeds more sloppy play. The team still can’t find a way to bury teams. It also sends the unmistakable message that the coach lacks faith in the team executing down the stretch and wanted to sneak out with a win.

I’d like to see guys like Abraham and Nowell get more run in situations like that where we feel that comfortable with the lead that we don’t feel it’s imperative to score in bunches there.

Sloppy first half, great second 15 or so, and then yuck. I get it was a big lead but Hass…. What was that?

Still a great reminder of how good this team is when they’re on.
Never seen so many air balls/turnovers in a row before. End of the game was UGLY. But a road win is a road win I guess.

Yeah I don't think you can compare RJ Cole who won the Villanova game for us at home on last second shot to Diarra who has no idea what he wants to do at time due to hesistancy.
I agree, diarra is a far better player. Great defensive player mitigated by playing so many minutes as lone point guard.

When was the last time UConn had four true road wins by Jan 11? Ever? And, of course, it could so easily have been 5-0.

No one here seems to understand Hurley’s deep strategy. It was to leave the Capital One Arena with a W. Squeeze the time clock down to the last seconds. Was the offense good? No. Did it look like UConn O? No. Did we give up the lead? No. It was ugly but to run the O that got us the lead we would have not been running the clock down and actually giving GTown more of a chance to come back. Hurley will complain about the end of the game but he knew what he was doing.

That's all well and good, I'm specifically responding to the multiple posts in this thread who complained about us not running up the score and thus hurting out metrics

Very good win on the road. We did let the lead slip with 8 minutes to go and we need to be better under pressure. Samson had a good game but Reed should never have 2 pts for the game.

By the end of the game Georgetown was pressing us on the inbound and we were scrambling. Our starters. That was a sure way to take us out in a closer contest. If we were not trying to score why was Singare not on the court with Nowell and Abraham? Diarra never tried to attack the basket at the end of the shot clock and was hoisting up half assed 3's. My wife is more ticked off than I am. Maybe Hurley was trying to make the final score closer for Cooley but it did our team no good. For the rest of the game our D was consistent. We found the open man and hit shots. We rebounded well as a team. Ross had a hard landing on his low back and sacrum and I hope he is OK. Stewart was cold but kept playing hard and Nowell looked like a freshman who has not played much but still made plays. Mahaney is playing with more confidence. Solo is reliable and Alex had a game. We are on to Creighton!

Until that hard fall in the lane, Ross showed why Hurley has been giving him minutes. Best game he’s had vs quality comp.

Only real bad thing he did was not doing a Sportscenter Top 10 dunk on that wide open lane to the basket play.
So you liked that 3 point shot with 15 seconds to go in the half?

Great first 15 minutes of the second half but the last 5 or so was so bad. I would rather see them put the peddle down instead of letting off the gas as they did.

I'll take the win would like to see more of a killer instinct at the end of the game

They put a graphic up that we were a projected 5 seed by Decourcy. Wtf is he smoking? A 5-seed?

I disagree, I think he should keep driving to the rim. He's so much more dangerous if the defense has to respect the drive and the jumper. It's still early January in his sophomore season... Get those reps in.
If Solo returns next season with improved handle and finishing at the rim he can lead the country in scoring.

We were? I thought UConn was favored between 3.5 and 5. With that kind of spread it would be very strange if Kenpom had Georgetown favored. Can you show me the Kenpom predictor? I'm curious to see how that could be.
You’re right. I completely read it wrong. Still we beat the spread lol

I was telling my friend he isn't far off from AA level scoring. Probably end this year around 14/15 ppg, basically only shooting spot up jumpers and open layups, could get up to 16-19 by improving his off the dribble scoring next season.

You mean the one where Nowell didn’t fight through a weak screen and let Epps get wide open for a corner 3?

Pay attention instead of just blindly trying to hate on players you don’t like for some reason. Embarrassing.

No RJ Cole is clearly a better player and scorer. First Team all Big East. Diarra is just a complentary piece on a good team. I love his defense but he is just an adequate Point Guard. Wow some peope really don't appreciate what RJ Cole brought when he was here.
