RJ Cole could create his own shot
Yeah I don't think you can compare RJ Cole who won the Villanova game for us at home on last second shot to Diarra who has no idea what he wants to do at time due to hesistancy.

I'm sure there's going to be a lot of discussion on this topic. IMO, that's on Hurley, not Hass. We started to bleed the clock with over 6 minutes remaining and a 20 point win turned into an 8 point victory.

A lot of his coaching is about instilling a killer instinct. This wasn't that.

Great performance to start the second half though. And I love how Donny and Brando kept complimenting the Gtown fans for something approaching a sell-out. Give those fans a participation trophy.
A lot of those “G-Town fans” decided to wear UConn gear

Early on the announcer actually said the Hoyas were getting cheated by the whistle (paraphrasing). The fouls were 3 to 3 when he made that brilliant observation, and he was categorically incorrect.

Of course, we commit twice the fouls and shoot half the free throws. Another team that reaches in all day long never fouls.

I wonder, how stupid and biased are these clowns? They take cheering for the underdog to a whole new level.

This game was NOT competitive

Perhaps best game of year for ball, ross and Nowell. Balls defense was much improved today. Ross played very well except the cringeworthy fake 3 and pull up for 2 with a straight line dunk being offered. Nowell can get to the hoop but needs to keep the flow of offense going. Many of the improvements today are the key to march.
That missed opportunity is the result of inexperience causing him to plan his play as opposed to reacting to the situation. His reactions should improve with more play.

Don’t be misled by the last 10 minutes of the game. Hurley wanted the clock run down to nothing and cared only about leaving with a W. We didn’t run O with a purpose doing that. Combine that with refs making crazy calls and that’s what happened. But no danger in losing at any point second half once lead established.
There were several phantom fouls called on UConn in the last six minutes

I like Solo for a pull up 2 in that situation, even better than going to the rim, he a great shooter.
Solo is very pure…love the pull up shots. He should cut back on the drives to the hoop though…seems like he is shooting less than 10% on those lately

64-41 wirh 8 minutes left. There has to be a better way to close out games than letting Diarra dribble around like he’s a globetrotter and get shot clock violations. Insane
some of this has gotta be coaching. And after enough of this, they should've subbed out entire squad let the second/third team go at it. Send a message.

Kenpom up one spot, maybe 10 spots on D, down 2 on O. Need to sprinkle in a couple blowouts to be near that top 15 of Kenpom and also to pad the NET. That’s what 8 minutes of dribbling it out will do
That's exactly what I thought would happen after stopping our offense in the last 8 minutes.

Very mature performance for the most part, strong win anytime you win on the road in conference, especially giving how we lost our last game

Total and complete domination. This game was not competitive. It's a shame they let Georgetown let the final score look as if the Hoyas were in it, they weren't

But to those people who rely more on metrics than the eye test, the final score matters.
And unfortunately, that's the selection committee (at least after they have satisfied all of their pet objectives).

I disagree, I think he should keep driving to the rim. He's so much more dangerous if the defense has to respect the drive and the jumper. It's still early January in his sophomore season... Get those reps in.

He's just not a very good finisher at the rim for some reason, surprising because he is long and strong. The only thing I can think of is he tries to avoid contact, not of the body as he's willing to mix that up, but he seems to try and avoid getting fouled on the arms and doesn't go stong AT the basket.

Every one of them has a bullseye on our back

Needs to hang with Castle

Just got back from Capital One Arena. Big crowd and very pumped. The G'town fans were a huge help to them at the beginning of the game. Good UConn crowd. Felt like 60-40. For the home team.

I don''t mind Hurley taking the air out of the ball.

I do mind getting sloppy and playing bad basketball. The offense stunk for the last eight minutes and got worse by the minute. And once again, we had trouble with getting the ball inbounds at the end of game. Run the offense get off a good shot. That's all.

We are showing the ability to completely outclass the opponent when we play well.

Until that hard fall in the lane, Ross showed why Hurley has been giving him minutes. Best game he’s had vs quality comp.

Only real bad thing he did was not doing a Sportscenter Top 10 dunk on that wide open lane to the basket play.
How about that 3 point miss with 15 seconds to go in the half? Lacking basketball IQ there. Even if it went in

Worrying about what happened in garbage time is wasted energy. 'Twas always so. It doesn't carry over. Bad, or good.

8 minute's of time to potentially work on and practice end of shot clock scenarios and they close out with that mess and people are like "we good". Can't just throw away real time scenario training like that. So yeah I'm pissed about the end. We ar are going to need that in more than a few games coming up.
Completely agree and I complained about that in the Chatting room.

Burn the last 8:22 of game tape.

Honestly I disagree strongly with the coaching strategy to take the air out of the ball the last 8min. Hurley has been whining all year that this team "doesn't have a killer instinct". So let them keep the darn foot on the gas the whole game then. Bury them by 40.
So they were up 23. 3's, turnovers and free throws and all of sudden it's 15 with 5:20 left. Karaban got the next hoop and that was huge. Another turnover and 3 and all of a sudden we have no momentum and GT thinks they have life down 10.

8+ minutes left is too soon to run clock. Hurley probably didn't tell them to take the shot clock down to desperation, but that's what happened. Up 23 at the under 4 timeout? Sure, play the clock. But you still want to get into offense with 10-12 seconds to go.
