She doesn’t have a concussion as of her most recent evaluation is the point. They are going to continue to monitor her to make sure. What about concussion protocol? Isn't that mandatory?
She obviously must not be in the protocol, but maybe she should be.What about concussion protocol? Isn't that mandatory?
But why if she doesn’t have a concussion? I’m sure she was evaluated in the locker room for one.She obviously must not be in the protocol, but maybe she should be.
If it's not a concussion, but some sort of physical reaction to getting hit, then this is why Geno said she will play unless something else is discovered. She obviously must not be in the protocol, but maybe she should be.
The teams are REQUIRED to get medical evaluation, and if it's deemed to be a concussion, it is required that the protocol be followed. It's not up to the player or the coach to decide. Let's hope her future health is taken as the most important factor. What about concussion protocol? Isn't that mandatory?
That is the exact reason the concussion protocol was created and instituted as mandatory. The teams are REQUIRED to get medical evaluation, and if it's deemed to be a concussion, it is required that the protocol be followed. It's not up to the player or the coach to decide. Let's hope her future health is taken as the most important factor.
She was hit hard enough for needing help to get to the locker room and she didn’t play another minute. That isn’t normal. That’s a TKO.If it's not a concussion, but some sort of physical reaction to getting hit, then this is why Geno said she will play unless something else is discovered.
She wasn’t knocked out though, she was in physical pain. Concussions don’t usually result in immediate pain like that. She was hit hard enough for needing help to get to the locker room and she didn’t play another minute. That isn’t normal. That’s a TKO.
Absolutely. They have taken this approach with EVERY injury the team has faced. There is 0% chance Carol will be back out there UNLESS she is medically and physically capable of it and no one will push her beyond herself. The staff has done a tremendous job making sure the players get all the support they need as they work their way back. The team and medical staff has cared for CD with the utmost concern around her well being. That isn’t going to change now. I am sure whatever happens, whether she plays tomorrow or doesn’t, will be decided based on what’s best for her and her alone.
let’s hope notY’all really think they would risk her health!!??
That makes no sense. She is or is not concussed. She obviously must not be in the protocol, but maybe she should be.
A lightweight, heavyduty, foam bicycle helmet would work fine.I am sorry--with this constant contact in practice and under the boards and since she is so sensitive to contact, Caroline should be wearing some type of head protection. The type of hit she took today would have been reduced with any type of protection.
No wordsA lightweight, heavyduty, foam bicycle helmet would work fine.
Sometimes it's the next day where you feel worse! That makes no sense. She is or is not concussed.
Does anyone have the link to today's UCONN Post Game Presser with Geno and the Players ???
Agreed. Perhaps something like this:A lightweight, heavyduty, foam bicycle helmet would work fine.
Awesome.Agreed. Perhaps something like this:

Maybe her reaction was more about fearing the worst rather than anything other than a shot to the head. That was real scary stuff when she went down. I'm glad she is doing OK. Tuff Kid.
Truth is, none of us knows what she was feeling. It may have been pain or it may have been simply fear! Fear that she would go back to headaches, light sensitivity, perhaps neck problems, and being unable to play and contribute to her team! I don’t know one way or another but what I do know is that if I had been through what this poor girl has been through, I would probably get hysterical if a ping pong ball hit me on the head! I went through a period in my life when I was getting migraines every few days. Fortunately, there was a medication that finally worked and now I no longer have them. I can hardly bear to think of having a constant headache and being able to do the thing that I love most. Since she is apparently playing tomorrow, I would guess it was a little of both. I’m guessing it was mostly fear of returning to a dark place that she has been forced to be in for a large part of her season. Whatever it really was though, I am happy to hear she is apparently ok.She wasn’t knocked out though, she was in physical pain. Concussions don’t usually result in immediate pain like that.
