This is not about the “ greatest coach.” If that were what is being considered, it would be unanimous for Geno.

It is “most admired” which is a more opened ended matter. Dawn is admired by many as an Olympic & pro player AND as a coach. Additionally, she is admired for empowering black female coaches, challenging the NCAA on disparate treatment of male/female treatment during “March madness” and her voice on various other social issues.

I am not in anyway trying to suggest that Dawn is a better coach or better person, merely that she id highly ADMIRED
I don't remember, except vaguely, Dawn as either an Olympian or a WNBA player and many others I would project are in the same situation. There are plenty of other more successful basketball players who come to mind as both Olympians and pro players that people "in sports" would know about and were better known and admired for their talents, courage, etc. I don't think that has anything to do with this poll. The fact that Kerr ( who hasn't won a title in several years now) is first and Dawn is second leads me to believe that the "admiration" is based on being outspoken and that the views they espouse are shared by the voters. Understanding this, the poll is really a popularity contest and therefore meaningless. The fact that Geno is 4th is pretty powerful considering the way he approaches things, even those that are controversial.

I guess people admire coaches dropping loud f bombs on the court, and on TV.
of course Geno - even in his younger days - never let an expletive past his lips during a game...
