He's not engaging in politics to try and get TCU in, unlike his fellow conference foe in Whacko, Texas.

Let your record speak for itself. Patterson is a class act.

It's easy to take the high road when you have the inside track on that road.

True, it also helps when those making the decisions are ignoring the one true tie-breaker, which happens to work to your advantage as if they utilized it, you would be out in the cold.

I saw he said the most even playing field for a point of comparison was they both played at WVU and TCU won and Baylor lost. What happened to head to head.

How's that? His team just got dropped from No. 3 to No. 6 for doing nothing more than stomping Iowa State yesterday. I think Gary would disagree with you at this point about TCU having "the inside track on that road."

Sorry, but any school and coach which goes around pimping themselves to the committee obviously thought they really don't belong, so it's going to take some extra help for them to get there. So let's hire a PR firm to lobby for us. Well, if they don't really think they belong, then maybe, just maybe, they don't.

I wonder if the PR firm took this task on a contingency fee basis? I doubt it. Baylor's gonna have to pony up the money to pay those invoices. Pathetic.

What were his views after the fact? They kept claiming one true champion, yet they announced co champs. How'd that work out for them.

Not very well. Every school not named Texas in the Big 12 got exactly what they all deserved to get today. Being peons begging for crumbs at the table of the King isn't workin' real well for the rest of the lapdogs that constitute the Big 12 Conference.

If your from the B12, and your name isn't Texas or Oklahoma, you're not going to the college football playoff. People need to get use to this. Again, there are only select few teams from each conference (and Notre Dame) who will ever play in the college playoff.

That's hogwash. Oregon is CFB nouveau riche. It just worked out like this for the B12 this year. A one loss ACC team wasn't getting in.

Unless they go to an 8 team Playoff.

I think the argument as to who is 7/8 versus 9/10 is a whole lot less loaded than 4 versus 5/6.

I agree with the premise: this is about protecting the Sacred. Ohio State is exalted. ND would be. Texas. Bama. But Mississippi State & Baylor & TCU? Not flying.

Ever think Patterson shut his hole because he lost to Baylor head to head and was smart enough not to say anything stupid?

Had Florida State lost to Georgia Tech then Baylor goes. If Ohio State and Florida State lost than both TCU and Baylor go. Is this obvious fact lost on people saying they could never go? Baylor was a GT field goal from going.

Yes, he was smart enough not to say the same stupid stuff Art Briles said. If he'd been so inclined, he could have pointed out to everyone that Baylor played SMU, NW State and SUNY-Buffalo as their non-conference patsies. He chose not to lower himself to Briles' level. Gary Patterson would have kept his mouth shut regardless of the circumstances because that's who he is.

It's about the entire season, not just one game, or at least it's supposed to be. Apparently it was up until today, when the committee pretty much made the whole season all about only your LAST game. They got it right, but their methodology really sucks when they drop the No. 3 team to No. 6 after they scored a convincing win, just because Baylor launches a glitzy PR campaign and their coach spends all of Sat. night and Sun. morning pimping for his team to be picked after an unimpressive win.

That sets a particularly dangerous precedent for the future, because it says to schools that they too can hire a PR firm to try to influence the whole process, and maybe it might work for them.

But that did not happen. TCU took care of business and still got hosed.
Have to agree with Pudge that OSU is exalted. All winning on Saturday, nothing shoulda changed from last week.

Amazing how even some of the long time knowledgeable posters are struggling with this. Ohio States win over Wisconsin on a neutral field was greater than TCU win at home over Iowa State, they were already ahead of Baylor. Things broke perfectly wrong forthe big 12 on the last day. OSU was down to their third string QB, NO ONE could have seen that performance coming.

Baylor did end up with a nice home win on the last day, but their non conference slate was brutally bad and to put them in would have been telling everyone that it is not worth scheduling anyone with a pulse.

Absolutely right. Allowing the last games of the season to dictate the draw encourages teams to open a can of whupass on each opponent, and hope you can score points on 'em like John Jenkin's run-and-shoot Houston Cougar teams of the early 1990's. That's the precedent that was set today, after many years of trying to argue that no, comparative scores shouldn't come into play at all, because we don't want to encourage drubbings that would put a youth league to shame if they didn't invoke the mercy rule.

This whole process isn't about picking the four best teams. It's about maintaining the status quo among the good ol' boys of major CFB.
