Would one of the South Carolina fans/insiders post a projected depth chart by position for next year's South Carolina squad? I think we all would be intrigued to see it.
Please and thank you.
Not an insider but I'll bite:
Depth Chart:
Posts:
C: Ashlyn Watkins (6'3), Alicia Tournebize (6'7), Adhel Tac (6'5), Kelsi Andrews (6'3)
F: Joyce Edwards (6'3), Chloe Kitts (6'2), Oliviyah Edwards (6'3), Kaeli Wynn (6'2)
Wings:
Jordan Lee (6'0), Tessa Johnson (6'1), Agot Makeer (6'1), Jerzy Robinson (6'0), Ayla McDowell (6'1)
PGs:
Maddy McDaniel (5'9), likely Makeer or Johnson as the backup
Likely rotation:
Front court:
Watkins, Kitts, J. Edwards, O. Edwards, possibly Tournebize
Wings:
Lee, Johnson, Makeer, Robinson
PG:
McDaniel
Barring injury I don't see a realistic path to playing time for Andrews, Wynn, McDowell or Tac. Tournebize could break the rotation with a good offseason.
Further thoughts:
Worth noting, as deep as the front court is, it's also very injury prone. Kitts, Watkins and Andrews are all coming off of significant knee injuries. Tac missed the end of this season with a leg injury and Wynn is coming off a season where she sat out due to a dislocated knee cap. Out of the 8 players in the front court, only 3 are coming in with a clean bill of health (Tournebize and both Edwards).
The wings are absolutely stacked. No one jumps out as a likely All-American type of player, but each of Tessa/Lee/Makeer are perfect 2nd/3rd options offensively and can score in multiple ways offensively and play good defense. Jerzy Robinson is also a top incoming recruit and should crack the rotation off the bench.
PG is by far the biggest weak spot. McDaniel likely takes over here but she isn't very strong offensively and will be a major step down from Raven this past year. Given the depth on the wing, I'd look for Tessa Johnson or Makeer to step in. Tessa is a solid passer but not a particularly strong ball handler, and Makeer has potential but is definitely more of a wing. I don't see Jordan Lee being a viable option to run the point.
Final thoughts:
Overall South Carolina should be the favorite going into next year. They're by far the deepest and most athletic team in the country, but they lack a go to player in the form of a Madison Booker, Sarah Strong, Mikayla Blakes type of star. Joyce Edwards could become that player if she improves her jumpshot and can put up better numbers in big games. I think they're the clear cut #1 going into 2026-27 but I don't see them as a team that's likely to go undefeated.
