Gamecocks Off-Season 2026

SCWBB is no slouch when it comes to NIL. There are some pretty high dollar branding that is available for our girls in the NIL market. I do agree though, that it’s the other stuff that is what sets us apart.

And, on a couple of Texas forums, the unsubstantiated rumors are that Lee asked for more NIL than Texas could give her. And, that TCU offered Lee an NIL package of $600k and SC put together a strong NIL offer, as well.

I recall reading comments from some Gamecock fans a year or two ago that SC isn't strong with their NIL or something like that; not sure if posters still believe that. In this day and age, I have to believe that players like Joyce Edwards, Latson, Okot, etc. were compensated handsomely.
Generally speaking I think we are doing fine but not the biggest players in that space.

There are some donors who might be moved to give more, but hasn't really been the case to this point.

Now it's possible Nike might be a new factor in it all. But I've not heard anything specifically there.

Do us a favor… make a Final Four with your Blue Devils, and then come back and pester us. Until then… shoo!

Contrary to popular belief, WCBB started before Staley arrived in Columbia. Duke has made Final 4s in the past, and will make them in the future. But I will acquiesce (for now) , y'all getting a little too fiesty South of the border.

No need to attack Southie about his opinion. While I agree with most, if not all, of your opinion ABOUT ADVANTAGES WE HAVE.But let’s keep it to expressions of opinion.

PLEASE!!! ( yes, I know I am not your Daddy) this is a request

Thanks for your comments.

I know now which poster is super emotional, defensive and triggered to the point of having to resort to personal insults just because someone has a different opinion than theirs. I definitely won't be participating in any future discussions with that poster as they don't seem capable of keeping things civil.

As for those Gamecock posters on here who are mature and civil, my point about Jordan Lee is that if she did transfer out of Texas because of the (rumored) reason her increased NIL requests/demands were not met, it seems logical that she's not gonna transfer to a school where she takes a paycut. If she lands at South Carolina, then it's logical that SC gave her more NIL than Texas; so, that dispels those comments being made from some Gamecock posters that Texas has deeper pockets and that SC doesn't have competitive NIL funds. Granted, that would be just one player, but that player was averaging 31.7 minutes a game which is more than any SC player averaged this past season.

I honestly don't think we'll ever know with 100% certainty which programs offer the best NIL and which players receive what amounts. Sometimes all you can do is try to connect the dots.

So, who are the biggest players in that space? I don't think there's anything out there with factual figures. But, if you don't believe South Carolina is one of the biggest players (does that mean Top 5 or Top 10?) then who do you believe are the biggest players?

A lot of ifs in there.

It's possible Nike has changed something, it's possible someone might find some money after a second near miss...it's possible we might pay a lot for a single player.

Or maybe Lee didn't leave for money.

My entire comments are based on the hypothetical "IF" she transferred out due to NIL demands as rumored on the Texas forums. Thought I made that quite clear.

Generally speaking we have not been the high bid for top players.

I think our overall number is probably pretty good as we've tended to go depth over divas so to speak.

we have SEC rev share, some WBB independent funding donors and good third party NIL arrangements. So not hurting at all. I'm sure better than most.

But we haven't to this point have not been making offers you can't turn down.

Might we pay Jordan Lee more than what Texas was? Possibly, but I don't know what what Texas was paying her.

Until they open the books we will never really know.

You kinda did, but you were still making it sound like if Lee committed to SCar it was evidence of something. I don't think it really is.

It will be fuel for speculation.

Jordan Lee it is. Just a great fit. Who would have thought this two weeks ago?

Feel like that's a real seismic event as I do believe it drastically improves our roster.

I actually would not have wanted her to leave Texas and I'll have some grace for Texas fans and/or Coaches who have some emotions about it. I don't have any real venom for Vic or the Horns.

Only if her actual reason was NIL. As I said before, IF she wasn't happy with her NIL at Texas, she wasn't going to take a paycut at her next school.

I think it stings more for Texas than it helps SC. She’s a great pickup though. I think SC is incredibly stacked at SG/SF now and has a lot of shooters. I wonder if we’ll see Makeer or Tessa slide to the 1 since I can’t see either of those 2 or Lee coming off the bench next year. And I’m assuming Jerzy Robinson gets minutes too.

I think one of South Carolina's weaknesses this past year was that teams could isolate a weaker defending guard and exploit her.

You've got two long plus defending guards now that can create havoc.

Also Lee is a good and consistent enough shooter (and scorer) to do that while not compromising the offense.

Before this commitment SCar's backcourt was just Maddy McDaniel, Tessa, and Agot returning with Jerzy coming in. Then you had McDowell as that wing/forward.

That wasn't near deep enough and I'm not sure it was good enough.

Now you pay a little less price for playing someone out of position as the backup PG and should be able to keep a stopper on the floor.

I think this is a bigger pickup for next season than Edwards would be (Edwards going forward though is different) is maybe equally as big as signing Kymora would be.

Agree with this 100%. As much as I hate playing Vic's teams and I love to call him a crybaby occasionally.. I have no deep-seeded animosity towards him and the rivalry he has with Dawn has always been mostly respectful. He has a great class coming in, but I know losing Lee hurts a lot. She was VERY good last season and one can expect that she will be even better next season. I'm happy Dawn has her for two more seasons.

From South Carolina site taking an early guess at the schedule. :D
Paywall? Who are we playing non-conference?

We know we open in Paris against Maryland.

Clemson every year.

U$C in Greenville (When do tickets go on sale? Gonna be a lot of talent on the floor.)

UConn Hall of Fame Classic.

An ACC team in the challenge week. (Hoping Notre Dame.)

Duke, Texas and/or UCLA in the Players Era Tournament. I hope the increase to an 8 team field in this second year.

Has anybody heard other P-5s mentioned? Would love some other higher level P-5s like TCU, Iowa, tOSU, Michigan,

Not paywalled. Idk what their forum is like, but it looks like they have pretty good wbb coverage. I might give it a shot. (Definitely better than the other BASEBALL IS AWWWWESOME! Carolina option)

Piecing things together and making some guesses, but mentions a game with UNC-CH in Charlotte, return game at Grand Canyon, and return game at Penn State, though speculates their new coach might cancel that.

There’s no denying Lee’s talent. My concern is how she’ll fit in, chemistry-wise. At Texas, Booker was always the first option on offense. Lee is coming to a South Carolina team with an All American (Edwards) in residence and an offense with balanced scoring ( five starters averaging 10 or more points). Latson was able to make the transition, and I’m hoping that Lee can.

One bonus is that Vic demanded tenacious defense, and that means we’re getting a player who can play both ends of the court.

On paper, a very nice addition. Hoping it pans out.
