Gamecocks 2025-2026 Season

Not great!!!! We need them healthy for the stretch run.

That said, I'm interested in seeing who replaces them. We may see a few BIG line-ups tomorrow. Joyce at the 3 will be worth watching. I wonder if Ali and Madina will both start.

Latson and Makeer will not be needed to beat A&M. We could sit all of the starters and win this one by double digits. Dawn’s resting her nicked up players now because we will need them against Tennessee soon.

I really want us to run some plays designed for Tournebize… time to get her involved.

Never said that they would be needed this soon. "Stretch run" does not equal tonight (or Thursday's game).

My concern is that these injuries could linger. Both players need to be fully healed for the Tennessee game. We could beat Tennessee without them, but they both need the experience playing a team like Tennessee in preparation for the SEC Tournament.

Little but cursed as Latson and Makeer have been in and out all year, which hasn't helped the chemistry any.

Gamecocks 71, Aggies 56… a much closer game than predicted. Thoughts/reactions:
1. An ugly win is still a win.
2. Adel and Maddie started, and clearly we were not in sync offensively.
3. Tessa was girl on fire in the first half, but apparently left her outside shot in the locker room when she came out for the second half.
4. Joyce took over the game in the fourth quarter, and we rode her across the finish line.
5. Four of our bigs (Okot, Tac, Dauda, and Tournabize) were, as a group, unimpressive. We seemed absent down low in the post the entire game.
6. Maybe we just play poorly in the Central Time Zone… doesn’t bode well for an upcoming trip to Baton Rouge.

As always, your mileage may vary. Forever to thee.

Yeah, their health has been a huge problem. We really need them to be healthy down the stretch.

I haven't watched much of Mississippi State but I'm a little worried about these next two games because of the injury status to Latson and Makeer. We didn't play that well against A&M without them and Mississippi State is a much better team. Anyone know the injury status of either? If we have at least one of them back, I think we can play more normal lineups and substitution patterns but with both gone, we were playing some unusual lineups that were not that effective. We definitely need at least one back by the Tennessee game.

Maker listed as out. Latson listed as questionable.

Let’s try as hard as we can to go without Latson and give her a little more rest time. Does anybody know her diagnosis? Is it the sMe ankle that she injured a few weeks ago? Maybe we didn’t give her enough res time then!

The McBackups need to come on at guard.

She was wearing a knee brace in practice yesterday.

They (Miss St) are better than TAMU, but they're still not very good. We should still be able to win with Gotti out and Latson possibly being out, especially at home.

Like you, I'm hoping that Latson returns sooner rather than later (though I'd like to have her healthy for the Tennessee game). To me, starting Maddy with Raven is a bad look (as was the case in the TAMU game) because neither one is sure of what their role is when they're in the game together. And because neither one of them is a scorer, it puts more pressure on Tessa to hit early (which she did) and continue hitting (which she didn't). If Latson can't go, I'm hoping that Ayla McDowell gets the start instead of Maddy because at least she will shoot the ball when she's supposed to.

I don’t understand the woe is me/Elite Eight ceiling talk.

This team’s three best games to date are good enough to win the final three games, and they’ve only played six games with their full lineup. If you count AT, I don’t know if they’ve played one.

UConn should obviously be the betting favorite, but I ain’t skeered.

South Carolina 88, Mississippi State 45… as expected, a short-handed Gamecock team had more than enough to easily handle the Bulldogs, although the score differential was not large until the second half. Some observations:
  • The most significant development was Tessa getting nicked and missing more than half the game. Not what we need with Latson and Makeer still on the mend, and Tennessee on Sunday.
  • McDowell has established herself as our number two option from beyond the arc, behind Tessa. She’s been making the most of her increase in minutes with teammates hurt.
  • Likewise, Maddie has seen more playing time, with overall good results. I do think that her driving the lane is more likely to result in her shooting free throws than in getting a field goal.
  • Joyce Edwards continues to be an extraordinarily efficient scorer… knows her limitations, seldom misses within 15 feet of the basket.
  • Nice to see Tournebize hit a three… gotta teach that girl not to foul as much, though. Can’t wait to see what a full offseason under Dawn and her staff will do for her… strength, conditioning, technique, familiarity with the system and her teammates.

Two tough games ahead… hoping we have a full squad available. As always, your mileage may vary.

Latson and T. Johnson will play today -- Makeer is out. That is good news to hear! We're a little banged up right now but thankfully have a 6 day break between games after this.

Thank you for posting this on the UConn forum @HuskyNan .

Gamecock fans should watch :

I will say it. I like the short rotation.

Also this particular seven fit pretty well. Granted, this Tennessee team has inflated its record with the softer part of the SEC sked.

.-.
If they fired Harper for Cardoso’s buzzer beater, what do they do with this?

The overreaction to that one play may prove mighty costly for the Lady Vols program.
You have to give her time to get her players in. Always thought this would be a step-back year for the Lady Vols.
