Gamecocks 2025-2026 Season

This loss is a lot easier for this Longhorn fan to take than the one on Sunday at LSU. All out battle between two very good teams. Congrats to South Carolina and its fans.
It was nip and tuck; you guys have a great team and we may play once or twice more this season.

What I saw, and what the box score confirmed, is that South Carolina received a home court favor from the ref's.
SC shot 26 FT and made 18. They were called for 16 PF vs. Texas being called for 22 PF. They made the most of their 13 FT by making 12.
There was no way Texas was going to win at that venue tonight.
You do realize that there will never be an equal number of fouls or free throws in any game. The team on the short end regardless of the truth will claim the refs were biased. Welcome to the world of "thinking rational". Geez...

Agot Makeer's ability to adjust to the college game continues to impress me. Her style of play really fits what Coach Staley wants to do. She's getting a lot of opportunities to be a ball handler, which I didn't expect and she seems to be handling it well for a freshman.

Thanks for the welcome, Jumpstart, but I've been a resident of the rational world for quite a long while.
Fortunately, for all of us, the box score and venue provide all the rationale we need to reach our conclusions for this outcome decided by three points.
Geez. Perhaps you should stick to "Welcome to Walmart".

Not that rankings are end all/be all, but I hope Texas stays #4. Texas losing two close games at South Carolina and LSU back to back shouldn't push them down in the rankings IMO when they already have wins over UCLA, South Carolina, Baylor and Ole Miss.

Reminds me a bit of when Saniya Rivers played for South Carolina, though Makeer's jumpshot looks far smoother. If Tournebize is added to the rotation, this might be one of the longest and most athletic rosters Dawn has ever had.

I thought the officials actually missed a few texas foul calls, while calling a few "touch fouls" on SC. The game, overall, was fairly called. Any examples of missed SC foul calls that you can name? Honestly curious.

I was thinking the same theing. She is a Rivers with a more reliable shot.

But Rivers was a surprisingly good defender as a frosh. Makeer is progressing in that area but not (yet) at that level.
Raven calls her Dewanna Bonner in practice and I think that is a better comp than Rivers. While Makeer is athletic, I wouldn't call her an athletic freak like Rivers. Also, Makeer has more finesse to her game and is a better shooter.

You a rational biased person? In this scenario that is an oxymoron. Geez....

Makeer is a little ahead of Rivers defensively by rating and win shares.

And a better offensive player by virtue of Rivers not being able to shoot a lick.

Not sure if Makeer will be able to get to bucket like Rivers.

I think she will. She'll need to work on her midrange game, but she's shown comfort both at the rim and at the three that I don't recall seeing Saniya show at the same age.

And no offense to Saniya, but Agot's ceiling is noticeably higher.

After watching the Texas game, I've concluded that Tournebize is the same height as Oldacre or perhaps a little taller. That puts her at 6'6" or 6'7" since Oldacre is a solid 6'6".

I mean there was no real reason for Carolina to lie about it.

I assumed once they published 6'7 that she must be at least 6'6.

Somewhat unusual growth spurt but it happened.

No real reason. But lots of players and player’s reps and even teams exaggerate stuff like this.

The good thing about that is I'm moving to NYC when I retire in a couple of years. You better bet I'm going to push for a game at MSG or Barclays. We have A LOT of alumni in the tri state area.
Gotta ask….why would anyone retiring move there? Asking for a friend.

The goal today in the game against Coppin State should be to get some more touches for Tournebize and some more minutes for Tac and McDowell. Two games against ranked conference opponents in the coming week, and I expect both to be tough games, similar to the Louisville and Texas games… little margin for error.

Hoping that Dawn has worked the kinks about of our inbound passing against a press. Texas made every inbounds play we ran an adventure.

And we currently rank 14th of 16 teams in the SEC in free throw percentage… we’re giving away points. Gotta be better.

Inbounds. That’s an area where we miss Chloe
