Gamecocks 2025-2026 Season

If Tournebize can play in the second half of the season she will provide much needed depth behind Joyce and Madina. Adhel and Maryam had some moments but Tournebize is already better than both at this point and her mid range shot, passing, and shot blocking would definitely take this team to another level.

Why waste her for half a season? Why not let her adjust to a foreign land and school before throwing her into the fire?

I don’t have any faith that Tournabize can help out with our depth this year. Glad she is coming but I don’t see her as having the strength to compete at an SEC level - yet. Texas and LSU bigs and Oklahoma will not let her near the paint.

If the rumors are true that she had a growth spurt, she could be the tallest player on the roster. A poster on the Gamecock board stated that on her official visit she was a hair taller than Okot who is 6'6", so folks think she is 6'7" despite everything saying she is 6'4". With those long arms and her athleticism, she could be a defensive menace off the bench this season. For comparison, I think we may be getting a more athletic version of Silva off of TCU's roster or a taller Strack at Kentucky.

I’ll be very happy if she is a Cameron Brink by her senior year 😀

This is huge. Because of lack of depth, I haven’t really considered South Carolina a national title contender this season. Probably the 4th best team, but capable of losing to other teams… unlikely to beat Texas, UConn, or UCLA. That was my stance.

I think this changes everything. As a fan of one of those other teams I mentioned; I am worried.

Waaaay too early to be worried IMO.

UConn is still the team to beat. Nobody is matching their depth and execution at this point. I’ve watched a lot of UConn basketball over the years and I haven’t seen a team that worried me this much since Stewart/Tuck/Jerfferson. Sarah Strong is just unreal. A UConn/Texas matchup would be fun.

Unlikely to beat Texas?

this is the same thing that was said after Carolina lost a close game in Austin last year.

Sort of bizarre but ok.

I think it's probably unlikely that she can pick up the defenses and sets and tendencies of her teammates well enough in conference play to make a large impact. Maybe by March, but it's just not much time and not a whole lot of practice to get up to speed.

I was watching some film and she definitely looks taller than 6'4. 6'6" on the court is probably a good guess

Oh ok. I thought it was a mistake on the part of Kitts, but oh well.... If that's what the kids want.
Kitts came in early and became a valued starter as of the first game of her sophomore season on an undefeated national championship team. It worked out .

Not sure what Kitts' expectation was as far as that first semester playing time, but I'd guess it might have been more realistic than the fans?

Not sure Tournebize is planning on four years on the college court.

Yeah, honestly playing 3 years plus this half year may be a selling point to delaying the WNBA draft for a shorter period of time. I could see her taking more and more minutes from Dauda/Tac as the season progresses. In March I could see her being the first big off the bench. It just depends on how fast she gets acclimated to the United States, college, and our system. That's a big ask but I think her athleticism and size will mask some of her issues.

Kitts has said previously she was ready to be out of HS & start college. I’m sure she would’ve liked (and maybe expected) to play more & expressed her disappointment in interviews since. However, she used it as motivation and earned her start the next fall. I doubt she starts in Paris if she gets on campus ithat June or July.

She’s played Professionally and she’s been to the States numerous of times. The only adjustment she might need is living in the Eastern Time Zone and the physical play of the SEC but coming from France I’m not too worried about that. She reminds me a lot of Victor Wembanyama.

I’ll wager she gives Koval/Joyner, Beers/Williams, and Cunningham/Oldacre the business!!! They’re all solid but far from world beating front courts. Texas’ backcourt is why we actually lost against them the first time.
I’m guessing you haven’t watched her highlights or games with Tango Bourges? They’re arguably as physical if not more in the Euroleage than the SEC and she definitely held her own. She’s not a physical style post up big but she’s not weak either and she has excellent touch around the rim extending 12-15 FT out. She can even knock down the three. I doubt the coaching staff would bring her onboard if they didn’t feel she could provide an impact this year.

This team really misses Kitts, who IMO is one of the best showcases of player development at SC. When she committed to SC (a late steal from Louisville) I didn’t think she was quick or athletic enough to play major minutes here and she was our best player last year.

The silver living of losing Kitts and Watkins this year is it really boosts the roster depth next year. I’d trade it for now in a heartbeat though.

The biggest difference in Texas this year is Rori Harmon being fully recovered from the ACL tear. I think Booker is W-ready today, but she was awesome last year too and they’ve taken a huge step forward.

I agree, both definitely has more spunk to their games this year and Lee has made a sophomore leap as well. With the addition of Tournebize SC should have more rebounding , another shot blocker, and scorer to help Edward’s an Okot. The rematch will be interesting to see especially with it being in Columbia in front of 18,000 fans.

Her mom is 6ft5

@visitingcock @SCspur
This kid played semi pro ball in Europe against FIBA competition. WE HAVE A STEWIE LEVEL TALENT SO MY LAST WORRY IS THE SEC BIGS. Her integration into what spot. 3 or 4 is the ?

No downside to bringing her in early, especially if it got them a leg up in recruitment.

She's a great player and whether she plays or not it's a big head start to next

I'm still greedy.
