We've done well in the midwest for quite a while now, so Tessa J. is really a continuation of that.

I think Adhel's recruitment + signing can potentially go a long way as far as SC getting talent from Texas on westward.

I think the biggest hurdle for SC getting talent from California now is the sudden resurrection of USC (+UCLA). Juju would've been at SC had USC decided to continue being a middling program.
You mean U$C for that school in LA

I know. West coast kids dont want to suffer in 115 degree heat AND deal with mustard in their chopped pork. Who can blame them.
Don't let this person fool you. Mustard-based sauce is great.

But SC has like 5 different sauces (each region of the state basically has its own style), so we have something for everybody. Great barbecue state.

Like I said, all BBQ matters. As long as the meat is tender and there's plenty of it, I'll be there!

Dont understand these WestCoast kids. Jazzy Davidson has dropped South Carolina from her finalist and added TCU and TX. Jordan Lee picked TX in 2025. Kennedy Smith to USC. Ice Brady to UConn in 2023.

I cannot figure for the life of me why we cannot get a kid from California, Oregon, Washington,
We didn't get Haley Jones or JuJu Watkins, either.

With chips won in 2022 and 2024, I'd say we did/are doing pretty well without them.

This complaining is kinda like that that tubby kid in the bakery.... getting to pick up a ton of different donuts at the counter.... but complaining that he didn't that chocolate eclair back in the rear corner.

Perhaps that wasn't the best analogy, but yall get my point.

I'm going to say this as delicately as possible; I love the University of South Carolina and I love the city of Columbia, but the state of SC is mired in the past and its reputation is such in other parts of the country.

Well, you’ve done bbq and donuts today. Go wash down some Duke’s with Cheerwine and go to bed. Tomorrow’s another day.

I was trying to avoid saying this.

As someone that’s now lived in New England, the West Coast, and the upper Midwest.. this is it.

That said, USC needs to hire the PR firms that LSU and UT-Austin are using because both are in states with politics that are in water far murkier than SC’s.

Even when SoCal was down- we were missing on Cali kids like Destiny Littleton .

Gotta love her

Her personality shines through on and off the court. I have friends here in Canada who don't follow basketball but have become fans after seeing some of my posts about her on social media.

Looking forward to reading the Marie-Claire magazine edition that includes an article and photo spread about her. Behind on reading her book too (summer project for sure).

According to Rauol’s wbbblog, Dawn made a new July offer to 2025 Jaida Civil, a 6-0 guard out of Vero Beach. I know very little about her except she is rated #40 by Hoopgurlz. Well, Tessa was ranked in the 40s when we first offered - but then so we’re Eniya and Jah.

Anybody know anything about Civil?

I’m wowed! Maryam is well spoken and very personable. I was not expecting that level of comfort in interviews.

Upping the schedule visiting Texas. Hope Adhel gets significant minutes.

I want us to play at San Diego State. Home town game for the Paopao family and FaceTime with Cali recruits!

Looks like we should be well-tested prior to the tournament this season. I'm glad that it seems like teams are not ducking us. Has a non-conference schedule been announced? So far we know about Michigan, Iowa State, TCU, NC State, and UConn, correct? That's a good mix of different styles of play and a good mix of athleticism, size and skill in those teams.

Add UCLA, Duke, Purdue and, of course, Clem’s Son.

I know Michigan experienced heavy losses but I’m excited for that game. Outside of Maryland, we don’t play Big Ten teams enough during the regular season considering how close they are regionally.

That's an incredible ooc schedule. So many tests. Great for fans.
I don't know about "incredible" qualitatively. Quantitatively, it might be the most teams P-5s (oops, P-4s) we have ever played out of conference. Plus, when you add LSU, Texas (twice), Oklahoma, Tennessee and Ole Miss, it starts looking better from a quality standpoint..

I would argue it's both qualitative and quantitative. UCLA, UConn, Iowa State, NC State, and Duke all look to be assembling Sweet 16 contenders. Add in Texas, LSU, and Oklahoma in conference as teams with good odds to make the Sweet 16. That's practically half of the Sweet 16 teams right there. Plus TCU is a dark horse contender along with Ole Miss (you can never count out Coach Yo) and that looks like a pretty good quantitative/qualitative mix of teams. The only potential "easy" games (relatively speaking when compared to the rest on this list) are Purdue, Michigan and Clemson and we could very much lose those games if we bring our "C" game.

Oh, the OOC is good. Even very good. It was the word "incredible" that hung me up.
