Diaco says Syracuse's offensive pace can be dangerous because defense has no time to sub out exhausted players. Opens guys to injury.

Diaco on Hergy: "honestly it's just reps. Other than that he's one of most professional guys we have. Craft of blocking is lost on some

Mike Anthony@ManthonyCourant 1 min ago
Diaco praised Hergy Mayala, saying he only needed more reps this season in development. Blocking well is what impressed Diaco most.

Not to mention subbing players in and out on defense is challenging when playing a slow-paced offense or during timeouts.

Keeping points down on D is great. For offense, it leaves you no margin for error. Poor offensive strategy. To reiterate : we don't need Oregon. But we do need an offense that can score. Field position alone isn't what determines winners and losers - it's only value is in a means to an end (scoring). Insanely frustrating the minutiae he focuses on... it's like he loses sight of the big picture.

"New York's college team"?

Isn't that like Northwestern claiming to be "Illinois' college team"?

Seems to be a stretch.

There use to be a Syracuse sign hanging in Yankee Stadium, signifying them as NY's College Team. This year the sign was changed to Rutgers.

This game will be a challenge . . . to the person in charge of the music/barking/video combo on 3rd down, as the Orange offense will not give that person much time to cue it up. I hope we're ready to go on and off the field!

No question, they play fast. Our D has to shut them down early. They were up 17-0 on South FL.

Now I get why Diaco doesn't want punt returns. If we run it back for a touchdown, we have to kick off to the other team and lose posssession.

Seriously, even if we averaged 5 yards a return, that gives us better field position. What am I missing here?

The game plan should be same as giants vs buffalo in Super Bowl. Long bland offensive drives with a score Keep the Syracuse offense off the field

I think we can come from behind- yes. But we have to keep Syracuse's offense within reach here. I keep reading how fast they start and play, and that worries me since our offense is like 3rd to last in the nation in 1st quarter yards and thus scoring (0 points in 3 games).
