-> "It was great for us to get going and play someone else," UConn tight end Alex Honig said Tuesday. "It was great to get some game speed and see who we are as a team. This will be another test. But anytime you get on the field and between the lines it's incredible. It's exciting to come off an offensive performance like we had but we have to focus on Syracuse with a different defense and different guys and I would say a much higher level of football."…

… "It's easy to look at the score or the yards or the explosive plays we had and lean back and be happy," Honig said. "But we're playing to our standards. There were things we did miss on and didn't capitalize on. We have to fix what we can be better at." <-

-> "Every day is a new day," Mora said. "We have to focus on being the best we can be every day. We made the corrections Sunday and Monday and moved on to Syracuse. It's a whole new proposition, a whole new journey, a new challenge so we refocus. <-

-> “Based on today’s practice, our guys are wired in and they’re ready to accept the challenge,” head coach Jim Mora reported after practice on Tuesday. “But it’s going to be difficult. It’s going to reveal a lot and these are the kind of games that you relish. So we’ve got to have a great week of preparation and we’ve got to go out and play as close to perfect as we can to have a chance to stand with these guys.” <-

-> There are also a number of coaching connections in this game: Syracuse head coach Fran Brown and UConn’s first-year quarterbacks coach/passing game coordinator Pryce Tracy were both part of Georgia’s coaching staff in 2022, helping the Bulldogs to a national championship … Syracuse co-offensive coordinator/tight ends coach Michael Johnson was on Mora’s staff when he was head coach of the Atlanta Falcons in 2004-05 … UConn linebackers coach Siriki Diabate played at Syracuse and served as a graduate assistant for the Orange from 2013-15 … UConn defensive line coach Kenny McClendon and Syracuse defensive backs coach Joe Shaefer coached together at Iowa State in 2017 and again at Youngstown State in 2020 and 2021 <-

One thing I’ve noticed is the Syracuse coach and these commentators seem to know very little about our team - no mention of players - just Mora in many of the comments.

When they said UConn “slower” than Tennessee, yes it’s true. But there are some key positions on the field where this not true and hope we catch them underestimating our star players.

I do agree we’ve got to come out in this game and build a lead and keep them on their heels.

One thing I feel great about is our QB Situation. I like Joe at the helm and frankly after watching Evers last Sat. I am just fine if he comes into the game for any reason. I think we’ve got 2 starting QBs - still firmly believe Joe is our starter.

I have no problem with this being our 2nd game - bring it! Nothing to do w/‘Cuse but we’re ready to play.

For the #HuskiesOverEveryone expeditionary forces…

Who is going to Cuse and where are Husky fans meeting up/tailgating prior to the game. Let's make it a Husky takeover of the Dome!
Went last November so couldn't get a sense of outdoor tailgating scene (bought a parking pass from a Cuse season ticket holder). For an inside option, HIGHLY recommend Faegans, down the surprisingly steep hill from the dome. Ran into quite a few friendlies, including one large table w/players' parents/relatives. And the 'Cuse people were nice as well.
