Game Week 2025: UConn @ Boston College Eagles (Saturday 10/18/25 at Alumni Stadium @ Noon on ACCN - Audio on UConn Varsity Network & Fox Sports 97.9)

-> “The way we gauge success, at the end of the day it’s all about us,” said linebacker Donovan Branch, a four-year Husky. “We always have a chip (on our shoulder). That’s one thing about our team; Coach Mora keeps that chip on us. Whatever we do from the past is never good enough and it never will be good enough at the end of the day because there’s always those small, minute details that we can fix.”<-

-> “Sometimes you have to move through rather quickly in a game week so you can get into the preparation stuff, but it was just a really positive week for us,” Mora said. “We were able to go back and look at the film and see if we were ‘tendancied’ up – one of the things you want to make sure you’re doing offensively and defensively is not getting ‘tendancied,’ where another team can kind of zero in on what you’re doing in particular situations, or out of particular looks on defense or particular formations on offense. So we took a hard look at that.” <-

Some things you just can't make up but enjoy the laugh. Of course all coaches want to speak nice, nice of the up coming opponent.
Coach Bill O'Brien states " I think they should be favored this week they have more wins than us".
Preseason strength of schedule had BC @ #17 UConn @ 103. I think that kiss up is a bit of a stretch to say the least.
GO DOGS MAKE HIM A PREDICTION MAGICIAN !!!

I honestly think he's just worried about losing his job. I'm sure he knows this is a "must win game" in the minds of their fans and administration, just as I'm sure he knows we are definitely capable of beating them. But if he loses he might actually get canned, it has been nothing but bad vibes around that program for the past month.

Saying we should be favored is a nice way of paying respect to Mora and the squad while hinting that this will not be a walk in the park and they may lose.

The majority of Eagle fans are not expecting a victory and realize the game could actually get out of hand. The defense is on their 3rd and 4th deep due to injury and the offensive line has only jelled in one game.

I like Bill O'Brien... Sounds like a guy kids would definitely be willing to go to war with... (just don't want his team turning things around this coming weekend though)...
Good press conference. What else could he say. Not everything goes the way coaches plan for. I hope we drub them this weekend but nice job handling the questions.

There has been some chatter of BC liking itself to an ivy league institution. Very few if any BC alums would make that comparison. There has been much chatter about the institution not supporting athletics - supporting them like an ivy league institution with athletics instead of an ACC member. That has been the brunt of the chatter. Also, BC will be left behind in the next round of realignment and will most likely find itself in a new or restructured ACC with UConn. When this occurs, most alums hope it will include strong academic institutions. On a side note, the academic profile of BC is not as far from ivy league institutions as you might think - the average SAT score at Yale and Princeton is 1540 - BC average is 1490.

BC is a very good academic school no doubt. There is a very reasonable discussion that schools like BC (private with very good academics) should stay in the upper echelons of college athletics and football in particular. Stamford falls into this category as well I think. Do those schools need to have their athletics compete at that level to maintain their academic standing and alumni support, especially with the financial risks now in place with college athletics? I certainly don't know the answer, but it sure seems like a reasonable question?

BC will never be an Ivy or of that caliber in my opinion. Just not the resources in terms of endowment, research funding, alumni base, etc.

this is what I want to seeeeeeeee!

There are many schools that rival the Ivies, including some in Boston…. But that league might be tougher to crack than the P2.
It’s not just the academics. Don’t see a BC as an Ivy League.

Is that Stamford High School?

BC and Stanford will only be considered for the P2 due to their huge markets. Stanford made the decision that P4 level is where they need to be and joined the ACC. Stanford has a huge endowment and received a 50 million dollar gift for the football program last week. BC has a 3.5 billion endowment and two mega donors in Suffolk Construction and New Balance. Their website listed two other recent donors who endowed the coordinator positions. Money is not an issue at these schools, management is the problem.

I enjoyed beating people and then having their fan base crying to fire their coaches back in the first Edsall era. I wouldn't mind getting back to that.

BC's schedule is still most all P4 opponents so I'm not ready to say anything like this game could get out of hand in our favor. We should have beaten Syracuse and completely blew it, same with Delaware. Those losses still sting. We were fortunate to get out of Buffalo with a W. BC is struggling but they're not Ball State or FIU, and they definitely don't want to lose to us.

We have to play well and finish these games off, especially against whichever P4 opponents we face.

There is no world where BC is a P2. Beyond management, they do not attract eyeballs in Boston or outside of it. Doug Flutie is not a pull anymore. Athens Georgia or Auburn Alabama are not giant metropolis. Being in a big city is not a criteria that is considered for P2.

Exactly. Brands not markets.

Stanford is one of the most powerful universities in the world. If they want to flex their muscles they could get in. BC doesn’t have that kind of juice.

That's how I see it. And the question for Stanford is do they really need to compete at that level in athtletics given all of the cost and uncertainty surrounding that. Their academics and influence surpass the need for top fligtht athletics......I suspect.

Look at the cost at PSU to relieve Franklin. Look at the distraction and possible cost to jetison BB at UNC.
