OK, what the ... is going on I get home from church and turn the game on and find this mess. And who gave Bob Piccozzi permission to announce the game. This isn't funny. Is this a Bill Murray movie, Groundhog Day or something!
Man, I hope this doesn't portend 6 more weeks of bad basketball!

OK, you guys can start running the real game film any time now.

So what is wrong with Dolson? No physical injury? Just starting would have settled the team.

Bria's shot is flat, including her foul shots . Looks like she is throwing it at the front of the rim, she is accurate cuz she is hitting the front rim.

Banks is done.

The more I watch the more I think Bria should have been red shirted. Not only is she not physically right but mentally she's worse.

KML has been Quiet. Kelly has been off. Doty has been Doty. Stewart is about to play a lot of minutes... And at least Jefferson has been decent.

.-.
Would someone please tell me why we are settling for jump shots again , instead of pounding the ball inside the paint!

She is not feeling well. She has the stomach flu...you think this game is ugly, put someone on the floor who could toss her cookies or have to run to the bathroom at a moments notice.

Really...if the coaches say she is too sick to play I accept it.

hmm wasn't expecting that from St John's.....or from UCONN either. Looks like they'll have to grind this one out. It'll be good for them. Grind out a road victory without Dolson and Banks, and not shooting very well, with St. John's shooting way over their heads.

Nonsense.

What a bizarre thing to argue. Every UConn player who has left with a sprained knee later had it confirmed it was an ACL. You have a couple posters able to watch the game who are posting "Banks is done".

What do YOU think she has?

.-.
Ok, calm down everyone.
There are positives (especially when BB was in).
This game feels like if the underclassmen come through we'll win and be a better team for it.
It feels like a changing of the guard.
Geno can love his starting line-up, but w/o Steff it feels like the law firm of KML and associates
It's the 1st and 2nd year associates that will win the game,

These kids spend so much time together and the stomach flu spreads very quickly and easily. Could be the rest of the team is just coming off a bout of the flu or have a touch of it themselves.

Is it shooting over their heads if they are being left wide open like some of the posters here are suggesting? I know womens basketball is known for missed shots but sooner or later you are going to run into a team that can make them. We will see how they respond. If this game comes down to the final minutes, this team hasn't shown the ability to win those games.

She has a sprained knee. As for your historical assertion, you don't know what you are talking about.

A sprained knee.

I think UConn should use more of the one man trap Piccozzi mentioned...

.-.
There has never been a knee injury for UConn that didnt turn into an ACL.
You said something that isn't true. Morgan Tuck just this year had a knee injury that was't an ACL. You simply don't remember the ones that are not ACLs because they aren't season ending injuries.

Give St John's credit, but this is the worse defense UConn has played this year. St John's small lineup is getting easier shots then UConn and has also beaten UConn down the court on break out baskets. Geno & Shea have to be livid at how easy St John's is able to run their offense. CD has to be livid that Kiah Stokes is not looking for her shot Kiah took 1 shot and was fouled on another.

Where is Kelly Faris in this game? She needs to exert Senior Leadership in the 2nd half. If not, could be a repeat of last year.

Let's see if the team comes out in the 2nd half like they did against Duke

Sprained Knee is always the initial diagnosis for a knee injury. They wait for the MRI to make it official.

O.K. folks. there is really nothing to argue on this point. It is what it is and we won't know for days likely.

No need for personal back and forth in this thread on this.....

So why don't we all wait for the MRI instead of diagnosing an ACL based on your opinion?

Sounds like the Boneyard at halftime. :(

She has a sprained knee. As for your historical assertion, you don't know what you are talking about.

From 2010- "On Thursday, Doty had a setback. According to the Hartford Courant's John Altavilla, Doty sprained her left knee during 2-on-2 workouts."

From 2009 Doty's injury vs Syracuse- "Doty didn't return to the game or the bench in the second half. The official word from UConn was that she suffered a knee sprain and an MRI would be performed Saturday afternoon."

As you can see for Doty they originally diagnosis it as a sprain. As they did for the others.

Stop. or I will lock the thread.

Regardless of all the arguments back and forth, I think Banks' knee injury looks bad. Hope I'm wrong.

Is Auriemma stubborn or just overconfident? UConn was getting their ass kicked for most of the half because St John's was doing such a good job of breaking the press but he waited until the last minute or so in hte half to call it off.

Lots of standing around on defense and lots of UConn players watching St John's guards blow by them or shoot over them.

As for Banks, the MRI will tell, but based on previous player "knee sprain" reports it doesn't look good. However, unlike knee injuries we've seen in the past this time it didn't look horrible (remember the Doty replay? Ugh!) so here's hoping it's just a tweak. When I saw the replay the announcer was saying they bumped knees but my first thought was that Banks was having a Bill Cosby moment.
