What a bizarre thing to argue. Every UConn player who has left with a sprained knee later had it confirmed it was an ACL. You have a couple posters able to watch the game who are posting "Banks is done".

What do YOU think she has?
She has a sprained knee. As for your historical assertion, you don't know what you are talking about.

I think UConn should use more of the one man trap Piccozzi mentioned...

There has never been a knee injury for UConn that didnt turn into an ACL.
You said something that isn't true. Morgan Tuck just this year had a knee injury that was't an ACL. You simply don't remember the ones that are not ACLs because they aren't season ending injuries.

Give St John's credit, but this is the worse defense UConn has played this year. St John's small lineup is getting easier shots then UConn and has also beaten UConn down the court on break out baskets. Geno & Shea have to be livid at how easy St John's is able to run their offense. CD has to be livid that Kiah Stokes is not looking for her shot Kiah took 1 shot and was fouled on another.

Where is Kelly Faris in this game? She needs to exert Senior Leadership in the 2nd half. If not, could be a repeat of last year.

Let's see if the team comes out in the 2nd half like they did against Duke

Sprained Knee is always the initial diagnosis for a knee injury. They wait for the MRI to make it official.

O.K. folks. there is really nothing to argue on this point. It is what it is and we won't know for days likely.

No need for personal back and forth in this thread on this.....

So why don't we all wait for the MRI instead of diagnosing an ACL based on your opinion?

She has the stomach flu...you think this game is ugly, put someone on the floor who could toss her cookies or have to run to the bathroom at a moments notice.
Sounds like the Boneyard at halftime. :(

From 2010- "On Thursday, Doty had a setback. According to the Hartford Courant's John Altavilla, Doty sprained her left knee during 2-on-2 workouts."

From 2009 Doty's injury vs Syracuse- "Doty didn't return to the game or the bench in the second half. The official word from UConn was that she suffered a knee sprain and an MRI would be performed Saturday afternoon."

As you can see for Doty they originally diagnosis it as a sprain. As they did for the others.

Regardless of all the arguments back and forth, I think Banks' knee injury looks bad. Hope I'm wrong.

Is Auriemma stubborn or just overconfident? UConn was getting their ass kicked for most of the half because St John's was doing such a good job of breaking the press but he waited until the last minute or so in hte half to call it off.

Lots of standing around on defense and lots of UConn players watching St John's guards blow by them or shoot over them.

As for Banks, the MRI will tell, but based on previous player "knee sprain" reports it doesn't look good. However, unlike knee injuries we've seen in the past this time it didn't look horrible (remember the Doty replay? Ugh!) so here's hoping it's just a tweak. When I saw the replay the announcer was saying they bumped knees but my first thought was that Banks was having a Bill Cosby moment.

A repeat of the Duke game? A blowout?

A repeat of last year's SJU game? A nail biter and loss?

My guess is in between, but this game could be any of those.

It was not a knee to knee contact injury. It seemed to happen starting with the odd step on her right leg before the contact as she attempted to change direction.

Did anyone notice the quick hook on Stewart at the end of the first half, then no bigs in starting lineup in second half?

Maybe he isn't as worried as everyone here.
