Game Thread - #8 NC State at #1 South Carolina

Hopefully there is more offense in the 2nd half. Some rough shooting and offensive possessions

Both teams don't want to pass the ball, but cannot make a easy layup LOL.
 
Halftime: NC State leading 21-20. An ugly game from both teams on a national stage.
 
I guess Baylor did transfer the bad shooting woes to these teams because Baylor has shot the ball so bad the first two games. Hopefully this means Baylor will actually hit shots against Arkansas on Sunday
 
That crowd sure is quiet. I'm gonna bet both teams will shoot better in the 2nd half

NC State shot 25% in the first half...and was only 1 of 9 from THREE. South Carolina shot 22% in the first half.

Baylor will not need to shoot from the outside to beat Arkansas. They aren’t stopping Baylor’s post players inside nor will they come close to winning most of the rebounds

Cooke and Henderson are a combined 2-16 for South Carolina. Cunane and Crutchfield are 0-9.

I thought Amihere did some really good things off the bench.
 
Yikes. It’s still extremely early in the season, but it’s not hard to wonder what’s with the poor showings against South Dakota, Gonzaga, and now NC State. I really wonder if SD and Gonzaga had the size and speed to stay in front of SC, if the results would’ve been different.

It's been a rough night so far, but I'm cutting everyone some slack. Let's hope for a better second half (offensively!)

Bright spot so far? Andy Lander's hair! The more natural salt and pepper looks good on him!

In my opinion, the shooters on both teams are just shooting and rushing their shots, and that won't work for the style of play that is being displayed in this game. You just know (or hope) the lid is going to come off the basket in the second half.

I love that we have an All-American at center... but holy crap can Cooke and Henderson look for their outside shot please.. You have to keep them honest out there. If Boston is getting triple teamed on the block why are we still trying to go inside? I don't understand that.
 
that's some of the worst offense I've seen in a long time..............If South Carolina played that way against a typical UConn team they'd be down double digits......

I hope so I’m just worried about NaLyssa Smith to be honest. She’s shot the ball so bad the first two games. My problem with smith is that she takes the first shot when she gets the first touch. She needs to be smarter and assess what the defenses are doing. She also tries to do too much and play hero ball. She’s an amazing athlete and the most talented scorer we have on the team but you got to be smarter. She’s shooting 22 percent from the field and 0 percent from threes. The only positive is that she’s getting to the free throw line and shooting 89 percent from the free throw line. I hope she starts finishing her shots and that she learns how to pass the ball when she gets double team. I really hope she can handle being the go-to player for us. If not, run all the plays for Egbo. Egbo saved us against USF

They are dribble drive first. Right into the teeth of the defense.

Baylor fans feel your pain. I sometimes scream when Kalani brown or Cox would get triple team and we would force the ball inside and sometimes it’ll get turned over.
