Gabby's 3 point shooting

Read a few posts about Gabby and her "lack of a 3 point shot." But I just watched first night and not only did Gabby beat Kia Nurse on a 3 pointer (surprised me too) but her team was quick enough to win the skills competition.

Just sayin

Will we see more of that this season?

Most promising thing I saw in the Pace game yesterday was the 3 ball that Gabby splashed from the right corner/wing. She took a couple during First Night as well. He shot was effortless, in perfect rhythm, perfect rotation. If she can take 2.5 attempts/game and make that shot at >30% clip-WATCH OUT!

I agree Coco. I wonder if Gabby has a move off a 3 point shot fake. She's not a traditional "set" offensive player, like (say) Lou, who has a nice baseline drive to the right side of a fake 3 pointer, and a mid-range jumper coming off the left side of the fake. I've never seen Gabby do a rocker step, etc. to get the defender moving either. So I don't know how much the threat of a 3 pointer would generate easier shots for her, though I completely agree that it spreads the defense and always creates opportunities for a give-and-go.

I was thinking the exact same thing. I also think she helped Geno send that perfect message to Lou saying something like "look at Gabby all over the place and even draining threes! when are you gonna show up to the game?"

Gabby was, once again, phenomenal. if Lou can match her intensity watch out this tandem will take over this year and can even outshine a duo like Wilson and Coates (IMO those two make up the best front court in the nation)

All these predictions, Successful shooting is all about confidence and a little help from the opposing defense, (Zone vs. M2M).. Gabby is a high energy effort player, most of her points will be put backs and layup from fast breaks and turnovers, She is not the type of player who will pull-up off her dribble, though she could easily out jump most defenders.. I don't see her running off screens for an open jump shot either but I could be wrong.. with all that said I do believe she will still be upgraded to All American Status this season.. And could easily be the leading scorer and rebounder on the team this season.. Fun to watch most definitely!

That's less than one made per game.

>30% could be 40%. @40% and 2.5 attempts she would = 1 3PT shot made per game.
Morgan tuck last year made 28 3PT shots in 33 Games and shot 32%. It about keeping the defense honest and taking the shots that will be available in the UCONN offense.

did I read in a article in the past day or 2 that Gabby mentioned that she didn't have confidence in her game (not 3pt shooting)... that "confidence" word is being used too loosely even by the players.

oh I'm sorry, she said the first 2 seasons... I didn't see it but people throw "confidence" around all willy-nilly these days
