I think we may have turned the corner on our football direction. In years past, with the 4th Q mistakes, we would have lost this game. I thank the fb gods for awarding us that onside kick possession as well as our coaching staff for finally having the players believe.

Season isn’t over yet, we have 4 more games to show improvement!
Thank You! This season isn’t over just like the game wasn’t over at 34-13. Not gonna flog the poor dead QB issue anymore. We have so many places where just a bit more confidence experience and execution will level us up again.

Start with the coaches being ready for end of game preparation and management and work your way from there. Don’t know if Mel Brown and the right side OL could have done much more, and the DL line pretty dang impressive sans roughing passer. If kids wanna really jump on these last 3(4 inc bowl) games, script can be even more different than it is.

1-0 is the goal.

LOVE the enthusiasm. However, come on now, we ain't running for nearly 300 against the TIDE.
However, it doesn't matter. We can just do our best against those who line up on the other side.

I say let's run it down Syracuse's throats!!!!
Yes. I get the feeling a lot of BYers have an unrealistic take on the state of our program. We are competitive relative to our competition, look like a well-coached team, were out of it in only our first game. With a much better QB could we have beaten Duke and Wake, who knows, but they were both competitive. Could we have beaten a few teams by a lot more? Only Temple comes to mind. This has been a pretty fun year so far and I think there is way too much whining when we win. Let the coaches seek perfection.

.-.
Comparing to years past, I love our defense. I hope we can keep coach Brock around since he really got these guys to play some good ball.

We are mixing up our blitzing well, and we are putting some good pressure on the QB finally.
I think tonight was the most points given up since the Maryland game and only because of a couple terrible roughing the passer penalties. This defense is incredible. Can only imagine how good they’d be if we didn’t routinely give teams the ball at the 40 yard line

I really question that punt decision vs going for it. Mora made the decision to give the ball back to Georgia ST and hope our defense could hold team. It almost cost us the game if they recovered that on-site kick.

I swear if we are at opponent 35, and we got a chance to put the game away, we need to just go for it vs punting. We should never punt at opponent 35.
100%, Yep pretty gutless and lack of trust in your O-line and RB who were dominating up until that point. Close the fricking game out with a first down and run more clock. Instead of gaining 20 yds on a punt and giving a GA St. a chance, when they shouldn't have had one.

Hoeh was injured on the last series versus Rice. We were playing with 2nd string center and 2nd string guards and still put up those numbers.
Evers numbers might look anemic, but other than one over thrown ball, he was much more accurate, and he looked quicker and faster on his runs. He still locks onto receivers, but all he had to do was hand off to Brown or Edwards to stretch runs off right tackle.

We made it too interesting again at the end, but a win is better than a loss.

Yes. Some areas of improvement. But nothing crazy or awful to obsess about. Are they top 25 caliber? Not even close.
Well, I had a few complaints, not sure why you didn’t. Could have lost 2 dline for targeting if we didn’t get a break. Gave up a big play due to communication. Generally poor passing, again. And the best throw was dropped. So yeah, I had complaints.

Should have two more wins before bowl game. I think our defense would give SU fits but don’t think we are quite there.
i still see the SU game as a 28-14 or 35-14, bad guys. We are definitely not in that neighborhood yet. wish we were, but nah.

IMO WF was the last shot we had to get a recognizable win.

I hope my take ages like milk

It is a trap game for SU. But, they aren't a football school and their BB history vs UConn will have them up for the game.

i so hope bowl eligibility soon becomes just another game. getting back to football relevance is a marathon for a program like UConn, just because of where we were as a program and where we are in the conference stuff. But a 6 win floor is a new place for me as a fan. It's not time yet, but I am looking forward to one day soon seeing a 10-win UConn football team.
My guess you didn't sit through the last 12 or so years every week watching some of the games many of us watched. You need to chill out and let those who have suffered enjoy this. Two out of the last three years now UConn is bowl eligible. That is progress from the Pasqualoni, Vitamin D Diaco, to Randy 2.0 disaster. This is much better.
Remember UConn is one of two independents in the country and needs a home. Enjoy the win and stop with putting it down.

So some don't know Evers dropped a weight on his toe and with the head injury earlier in the year, this was the healthiest he has been. UConn didn't need 300 yards of passing because it has 274 in rushing. My gripe with Evers is being consistent which he is not yet

We have seen enough of Evers to know he isn't a FBS starting QB on a good team. Time to move on next year and find one who is.

Couldn't get to the game but I kept looking at ESPN. The definition of another ugly win. 75 yards passing. D on the field for 35 minutes. Sure, UConn will most likely be able to beat UAB and UMass with Evers. And when they get to 8-4 at the end of the season, people will be jumping up and down about the huge success. But those of us who have followed UConn for a long time will be left feeling flat. They still haven't beaten a team of the quality they used to beat regularly in the oughts. And apparently they aren't interested in really trying if they play Evers against Syracuse. I am mystified.

Am I the only one who think Evers played well tonight just based on the eye test, of course the stat geeks will look at the passing yards, Evers got out of a 3rd and 13 on that drive a rb fumbled, had a dropped 3rd and long completion dropped by Nick Bell of all guys. Evers moved around good and made smart decisions.

I never understood the decision to not go for it on 4th and 1 from the Ga State 37 up 2 scores. Stop being scared to get a yard everyone knew we weren’t stopping GSU sometimes your defense has to be your offense get the damn yard and put it away, your offense was in rhythm too just stay out of the way, please.

People will be celebrating being 8-4 because we haven't won that many games in over a decade. Why should people care about the fact we have only won against bad teams with bad QB play, when we couldn't even do that with good QB play a couple of years ago?

At the end of the day, people really only care about wins and losses.

He had a couple of decent plays, but man is he frustrating to watch. They keep saying he just needs more reps, but it sure seems like he’s already peaked.

You're not the only one. He managed the game pretty well, hit his targets for the most part, and was essentially put on ice in the 4th quarter as we tried to run the clock out with a big lead. He even helped out with his legs a bit too.

There are some on the board that just seem to get way too much joy bashing the kid. We put up 34 points on the board today. He has a solid game...

Remember when our guys looked like a Pop Warner team vs the opponent's guys on top of having piss poor coaching? Wasn't all that long ago.

I don't think there's a whole lot of us who are overjoyed at the scheduling, but in coachspeak, there's an old nugget about, "We have to teach these guys to win." And Mora is well on the way to accomplishing that via his recruits and coaching staff. Next year's schedule is about the same as this year's. But hopefully those close losses turn into close wins vs P4 teams, and in two years when the schedule actually is more difficult, UConn will be ready for that challenge.

Everything that has been said here in a positive vein is 100% accurate and great. No matter how excited and enthused I am about everything, I have this foreboding kind of irrational black cloud in my brain that some sort of conspiracy involving Nick Evers exists that will prevent us from fully moving forward. It dampens all positivity and enthusiasm.

I am seeking professional help.

with a better QB we're probably a 30-45 rank team. With what we got we're about 75ish. Sorry that its that stark but those losses hurt and we stopped blowing away opponents.

We scored 6 times. He doesn’t play D. Our D gave up several 3rd and long first downs. He is not a fabulous passer, but he was pretty good overall. Seriously, our team is good, but someone here thought we could jam runs down Alabama’s throat. Really? C’mon, enjoy the winning. We score 30 and 34 the last two games.

Cohen you are therapeutic

At the end of the day, I'm trusting Mora to know who he wants on the field. I don't think Evers is 100% from the toe yet and/or still a little fearful of taking another head shot, but he didn't make any killer mistakes last night and could've had better numbers with a little help. There have been these weird isolated series both last night and in the Wake game, where the light comes on and he plays loose. Enough, coupled with Mora's commitment, to make me think there's some upside there.
