The best football mind in Connecticut says our QB needs more reps. He sees potential.

What happens if Evers gets healthy, gains confidence and goes off against Syracuse. Follows it up with a solid bowl game.

Then a P4 program pays him serious NIL for his next 2 years.

Will the BY naysayers be p1ssed?
So maybe Mora is holding him back until 1st game next year so that doesn't happen? Puts Joe in to beat Syracuse? AS always, we all root for Nick and all have our own opinions about whether he sould play or not. Did see a little of light bulb glimmer flicker yesterday after he got whacked ironically.

I like winning a lot. But Evers badly missed a downfield throw on our second drive in plus territory. Wide open 20 yards down the field and it wasn't close. Make that and were probably go up 14-0. It looked like the coaches are not comfortable having him throw between the numbers to the middle of the field. Almost everything was toward the boundaries. Clearly the coaches are protecting him.

Mora says he needs reps. He is getting reps. It needs to start paying off.
We won. I guess it didn’t pay off.

You can add going 31 yards for a score on the first play after the int. Probably should have thrown 3 times for 8 and kicked a field goal..
He's turned into my sleeper favorite this year.

Just tuned in Duke at #5 unbeaten Miami. No idea who will win, but with under 2 in the half, Duke up 21-17. Obviously our D played well in our game vs them, but Evers, still pretty green and back from injury, was 15/29 for 135. Not great, not awful and at one point led us to 2 scores that put us ahead.

You are really stretching now. If Jordan Wright doesn't drop that easy pick, we win by 14! Before tonight, how many Georgia State games have you watched? Do you know their red zone tendencies and how what they see in our Red Zone D?

They pulled a good QB who moves the ball out to run ineffective wildcat plays. It totally threw their offense out of whack. The Georgia State coaches were idiotic.

This place is insufferable.

We are #43 in scoring. That's higher than undefeated Iowa State and numerous other P4 teams, and yet the fans here say that averaging 32 points per game "isn't good enough" in the college game.

We ran the ball really well last night, so he only had 16 attempts. We should all be good with the fact that he was efficient in those attempts and we moved the ball effectively. But there are way too many people on this board that want to kill the kid even when he does his job. Enjoy the win and look forward to next week...
Fortunately there aren’t too many, but those that do, do so over and over again. One in particular is trying to set a record for beating a dead horse to death.

Nice to get the win last night and important for the guys. They came out strong. We can beat the weak teams with our D and our running game. That's good. Fortunately it turns out we have a very friendly schedule this year. The team plays hard and congrats to them for becoming Bowl eligible.

Had a handful of very fortunate calls last night to help seal the win. I'd be upset about a few of them for sure from the Ga State standpoint. Our passing game is terrible and it makes it frusrating to see the same thing year after year. Evers shows no signs of improving and it's a mystery why the Coaches keep pretending he is. Just look at the offense we've been running. Combine those things and we aren't beating any decent teams any time soon, and certainly not impressing anyone who's paying attention.

I like where we're at because we're not far away from having a solid team that gives hope for being competitive in the games that matter. But the stubbornness of sticking with Evers is a perplexing situation and we may never have an answer to it. The glass us half full but it feels like someone has their hand covering the spigot. Not sure why that is the case

I’ll be shocked and thrilled for him.

We have seen enough of Evers to know he isn't a FBS starting QB on a good team. Time to move on next year and find one who is.
The coaching staff says different whether we agree or not. I think he needs to be more accurate as well. Do I think HCJM will make a change at quarterback, no and we have to trust him since he has gotten us bowl eligibility two out of the last three seasons.

Enjoy the rest of the year and remember not long ago we were hoping for more than 2 win seasons.

What a strawman. Everyone wants Evers to succeed.

You can point out that throwing for less than 80 yards isn't good enough and still want the kid to light the world on fire. In fact, my guess is everyone feels that way.

From the tone of some of the comments I’m not sure everyone wants him to do well. There are people that never want to be proven wrong and will never admit to being wrong.

So some don't know Evers dropped a weight on his toe and with the head injury earlier in the year, this was the healthiest he has been. UConn didn't need 300 yards of passing because it has 274 in rushing. My gripe with Evers is being consistent which he is not yet

Again, he’s actually very consistent . . .

You do realize that Zoo know more than our coaching staff with his years of experience coaching at a high level from his couch/stadium seat.
My thought are that next years quarterback may not be here unless Welliver takes control next year.

All I care about is winning and let the coaching staff worry about the players as we don't see what they always see.

The QB position is seriously underperforming right now. Evers hasn't proved he is the right guy since he is wildly inconsistent. All we know is our WRs are open, and he can't get the ball to them. If we can't pass, our run game will suffer.

We won't get chance after chance against Cuse like we just got against GA State.

Something has to change. Maybe Evers will improve, but he hasn't shown it so far.

Yeah he is the best option they think but he isn't then long term solution. Plus, you l don't think they are playing him also due to the NIL investment? Either way he has shown he sucks. We are winning despite or him and not because of him. There is a reason why he never got a real chance at 3 other schools before us.

I think we all agree that both are quarterbacks are not up to this level of competition. The question is which one gives us a better chance to win.
