OT: Funniest movie and/or TV show ever

Original Get Smart.
(Actually, I rewatched it recently and it wasn't quite as good as I remembered)

Isn't this always the case? The two comedy shows that I can remember having those gut-hurting, almost breath-seeking laughs while watching, when I was a young teen, were

Martin & Rowan's Laugh In, and
All In The Family.

Now I watch and get an occasional laugh, but mostly smiles.

not always funny but when it was. Man o man!

The pretty nurse running to the chopper was Lt Dish. She was played by Karen Philipp who , along with Lani Hall, was also one of the female singers of Brasil 66.

I liked the old Burns and Allen show. And The Jackie Gleason show ,especially the Honeymooners. Gleason was good, but his supporting cast was amazing. Your Show of Shows was also funny. And the Dick Van Dyke show always made me laugh. MTM saying "Oh Rob" and bordering on tears was unforgettable. And The MTM Show too. Nothing better than Chuckles!

All in the Family would be my #2 based on the strength of Carroll O'
Connor. But there is no secondary character who blows me away (Love Edith, tho). Ray has Robert Barone who just slays it every show.

Blazing Saddles (but nowadays, not PC, I am guessing.)
Airplane
Tie with Sid Caesar's Show of Shows and Caesar's Hour. How could they not be the funniest shows with this HOF all-star roster of writers: Mel Brooks, Neil Simon, Danny Simon, Mel Tolkin, Lucille Kallen, Selma Diamond, Joseph Stein, Michael Stewart, Tony Webster, Carl Reiner, Larry Gelbart and Woody Allen.

.-.
One that I completely forgot about - but its absolutely great: The Gods Must be Crazy.
OMG! You are right! It is the funniest movie ever. We had to buy a second tape. We wore out the first. Tears in our eyes, stomach clenching, gasping for breath funny. Sorry Mel, but it beats Blazzing Saddles. For TV I'll stay with Sid Caesar.

I know this about funniest movie or TV show. Insane City by Dave Barry is the funniest book I've ever read. I could not stop laughing. My side hurt by the time I finished reading that book.

.-.
Movie: Blazing Saddles

TV Show: First 2 years of the Cosby Show.

Funniest movie: The Palm Beach Story
Funniest tv show: Rev. Jim goes on a date episode of Taxi.

.-.
Hope this isn't a repeat.

Due to the current situation, I thought that this might make things seem a little better for a couple of minutes. I thought of this because I just watched (for about the 20th time) the ending of one of my picks.

What movie and/or tv show would you consider your funniest?

Blazing Saddles (but nowadays, not PC, I am guessing.)
Airplane
What about Reverend Jim going for his written driving test on TAXI .... that was totally hysterical

Catch 22 (except, with the arrogance of small men, they decided to change the ending of the book)

Jack Benny Show

Ernie Kovacs Show

Dobie Gillis

Groucho Marks, You Bet Your Life

And ((my all-time favorite), Black Adder Goes Forth
A completely hilarious "black" comedy with perhaps the most mournful ending of all time.

Some of my favorites, in no particular order:

There's Something About Mary
A Million Ways to Die in the West
Animal House
A Fish called Wanda
Borat
Caddy Shack
Dr Strangelove
Airplane
Blazing Saddles
Support Your Local Sheriff
City Slickers
Shanghai Noon
Anchorman
MASH
Clueless
The Odd Couple
Austin Powers
Scud, I forgot about Dr. Strangelove. Has any actor ever played multiple roles in a movie like Peter Sellers? I think that just about anyone of the supporting actors in that movie could have received an oscar. One of the classic scenes in the history of motion pictures is Slim Pickens going out of the chute on the bomb.

Just a fantastic movie, I have to re watch it every few years. It never gets old. "Precious bodily fluids","You'll have to answer to the Coca Cola company", ""Now Dmitri" etc etc. And yes, Peter Sellers, just incredible. Slim Pickens at the end is cinema classic. What a movie.

All in the family was such a success because of the writer who composed Archies lines / sayings! How he put together the most outrageous connotations is beyond me!

The Gang that Couldn’t Shoot Straight-movie, but the book is a MUST READ.
In Living Color-TV show
South Park-Movie and TV show
Police Squad!-TV show
History of the World Part 1

I do the same with this movie. Watch every few years. Great performances. Loved George C. Scott as General Buck Turgidson too. "I do...I care to Dimitri."
