Freeman possible visiting friday

I had put this up in the 'Transfer Concern' thread as well.

Reminds me physically if another former 'cuse player, Jerami Grant. Seems to rebound better, which is not that hard to do - Grant is allergic to rebounds.

Curiosity question for BY talent evaluators. As a Plan B to Freeman-Can Aiden Sherrell play the 4 in our system? Or is his natural position as a 5? Listed as a PF/C.. Realizing-of course-their style of play as PFs is different.
Sherrell is likely more expensive (wouldn't be a plan B) and seems to be heading to Indiana. But yeah he's more of a center anyways (but the ability to shoot could let him play next to another center).

Under Autry, with one of the worst offenses there was last year, he was expected to create everything. He would thrive in our offense. He needs to be fully healthy though. Nagging injuries can linger without the proper care.

Sometimes he has that "look at me trying so hard" look, especially when their team was getting blown out these past two years. I won't hold that against them, given the poor coaching staff at Syracuse. They never coached in game, they just sat there clueless about what to do.

Ruff is right. People are becoming very wary of Pope/UK.
I don't know why anyone with designs of improving and playing in the NBA would actually want to play for him. You're basically saying money right now for a year is much more important to you than improving your game a lot, winning, and way more money in the future. If you're a serious basketball player choosing to play for him is an unserious decision.

I know very little about him so these are genuine questions, not rhetorical or sarcastic ones. Anyone who knows his game well, please answer!

A lot of his highlight tapes look like tough isolation jumpers. Probably explains the <50% shooting. Hurley is pretty big on shooting mostly threes and layups. Is Freeman strong enough to get to the rim for layups? He’s a 30% three point shooter so won’t be making his living there

How does he fit into the offense? We definitely will be looking for a “go get a bucket” guy, but if you told me that guy would be taking iso mid range shots, I’d have expected it to come from Silas or Solo, not the PF

I think you make some good points. I was guessing they would try to hone in on Khamenia at the 4 if anyone can pull him away from LA, but I'm guessing with the attention they've given Freeman, they like his ability to create his own shot. Not that they want to rely on that. His shot selection certainly needs work, but that end of the shot clock guy who you can rely on was really one of the few glaring weaknesses on this past season's team.

31% from three for his career- that will need to improve- takes over 3 a game which is a good sign- def would be a more athletic defender & finisher than Karaban.

Aside from checking in on the last 30 seconds of embarrassing losses I've watched almost no Syracuse basketball over the Autry era. How has Freeman looked? Was he their best player this year? Will he have the stink of a losing, apathetic culture on him and/or bad habits that will require breaking?

Hampered by injuries, forced to take a lot of tough shots in their offense, and not known as a guy who consistently hustles or plays defense. Also not known to mix it up down low.

That being said, most people who have watched him say he needs an intense coach like a Hurley or Izzo to get the most out of him. They say if you can get him to play hard, could be a All-American. Someone recently said he was Cuse's highest rated recruit out of high school since Melo.

Wasn't this basically Tarris Reed under Juwan Howard? That turned out OK.

Read that on their board. I also read this.

Apparently, they mentioned us quite a bit. 😂

If he's willing to come to UConn, he's aware he needs to work on the hustle/toughness too. Worst thing is when a kid thinks he's giving 100% and walks down the floor

If he gets here on Friday it might be a wrap. Between Hines and Freeman’s visit to Kentucky, today might be the biggest day in our portal watch this offseason
