How do we know that we can't have Khamenia ride Freeman's shoulders and play as one 12 ft tall player until we sue the NCAA and find out? Both, but one plays while the other sits.
Been thinking about this a lot.I got laughed at for even posing this question in another thread. But there is legitimate smoke for both coming here, as well as Mullins returning.
If all 3 are here, something has to give. One of these dudes would be coming off the bench, unless people think Solo won't be back (which I doubt.)
So hypothetically, if we do land all 3 players and Solo returns, who comes off the bench?
He was out most of his freshman year and I think 9 games as a sophomore. He is a great athlete and can board in traffic. He has a poor handle and needs to be in a system where he is not the top threat. He is also a poor passer, decision making is questionable. Hurley might bring out his best. He needs to not be treated like THE Prima Dona. In spite of his warts I wish he stayed at SU.Khamenia - his upside is crazy. He didn't shoot that well this year - but UConn has had plenty of five star freshmen who had major shooting slumps year one (Castle, McNeeley, Solo his freshman year - 4 star but whatever, Mullins). We only got to see one of those guys (so far) make that freshman to sophomore year jump but if you look at similar players, it's usually pretty good. If he figures out the offense, he's got Karaban written all over him (court-wise, no idea on leadership/etc.)
Freeman is a good pick up too - I worry about him playing with a real offense now (long-term would definitely help but there would be growing pains) and he was injured a bit last year. If we end up with Freeman and not Khamenia, I'd still be happy, I just like a guy coming from Duke's system a lot more than Syracuse's system.
1997 Arizona championship team Jason Terry went to bench so Bibby and Miles Simon could be starting duo on championship team, didn't Rashamel Jones also do that for the 1999 UConn team. Could work to everyones benefit. Hurley might have missed opportunity to have Mullins come off bench in 2025-26 or Ball.Been thinking about this a lot.
Hypothetically, if Dan Hurley went to Solo Ball and asked him to be the best sixth man in the nation on a National Champion, does he say no? I personally think there would be a (small) chance the answer would be yes.
Uhhhh if solo didn’t lose his starting spot this season. He definitely ain’t next season.Been thinking about this a lot.

Psssh, Duke is another one of those so-called "institutions of higher learning" that does not make its own ice cream. Handing the kid a half gallon of Breyer's isn't going to get it done., and Flagg afternoon ice cream.
No reason to waste your time speculating with this until we get more commitments from existing and new players. We only have 5 players right now on the team. Just too many moving parts to get a good read. So:
1 DeMary/?
2 Ball/Ross
4 Mullins/Landrew
4 Khamenia/Stewart
5 Hines /?
Ball, Mullins, Stewart, Khamenia(sp?)
?+?
4 committed, 4 waiting, 2 unknowns
Yes, I realize Ross not a 2, Khamenia really a 3, but these are the guys we are looking at to get to 200 minutes
How soon de we hear?
20 Minutes?
They can play together if need be. Different skillsets. A frontline of Khemenia, Freeman and Hines is possible and would be quite good. Both, but one plays while the other sits.
