Freeman or Khanenia - Which do you Want

.-.
Khamenia is preferred for our system. His passing will add something really special. I'd appreciate Freeman's athleticism and length. I think Freeman might be here longer as well. Khamenia in our system could put up monster numbers and be a lottery pick.

I would prefer Khamenia, who has a better all-around skill game and better motor.

Freeman is the better athlete and would be a fine consolation prize.

Can only have one of the two. Given the current roster which do you prefer and why?

Khamenia - his upside is crazy. He didn't shoot that well this year - but UConn has had plenty of five star freshmen who had major shooting slumps year one (Castle, McNeeley, Solo his freshman year - 4 star but whatever, Mullins). We only got to see one of those guys (so far) make that freshman to sophomore year jump but if you look at similar players, it's usually pretty good. If he figures out the offense, he's got Karaban written all over him (court-wise, no idea on leadership/etc.)

Freeman is a good pick up too - I worry about him playing with a real offense now (long-term would definitely help but there would be growing pains) and he was injured a bit last year. If we end up with Freeman and not Khamenia, I'd still be happy, I just like a guy coming from Duke's system a lot more than Syracuse's system.

I like the idea and blueprint of Freeman, big athletic etc. but I worry about his commitment and ability to stay healthy, also sounds like his family/camp really likes Hurley, but does HE like Hurley and the UConn system?? His play style doesn’t scream it. Khamenia is the safer pick that still has a lot of upside and played in a real offense last season, I worry about his athleticism but it was never a real problem with Karaban. It’s a toss up honestly.

So pretty much everyone has ignored the key basis of your question of course.

I would say Khamenia. Just feel he has a higher BBIQ and fits Hurley's system better, and there are some nagging questions about Freeman's health and motor.

I have to make this point. Michigan loaded up last year with multiple players who could start at a lot of top programs and won the whole damn thing. So why can't UConn do the same if these players in the portal are willing to share time with other talented players? And why can't most of the current UConn players who have eligibility left and haven't entered the portal be willing to share minutes with other talented players.

People make such a big deal about who starts when the questions should be who's getting playing time and who's on the floor during winning time.

I think we have room for both incoming players and most if not all of our returning players. Now that doesn't mean that these players all feel the same way.

So does Hurley have to promise who starts and playing time compared to telling them you get what you earn? Isn't the latter what our culture has been built on? I realize during the era of the portal things are more challenging, but does that mean Hurley has to change UConn's culture?

Whoever signs first but obviously want both as they can play different positions on the floor at the same time. Freeman is a 4 while Khamenia is more of a big 3 and occasional 4. If Freeman is healthy I think there is more upside for next year's team. I think Khamenia might take a little while to get up to the level we need if was going to play the 4 and right now his 3 Pt % wasn't great. Alex, was a lot better 3 point shooter his Freshman year in similar roles of not being one of the main guys.

Kamenia seems like he'd be a great fit at the 3 so that would be my priority especially on offense. We also need bigs and Freeman has to be more than his listed 205 lbs and extremely athletic so he would also be a huge win.

Hurley is looking to make the team bulletproof.

Even though we had the run to the title game and could've won with fair reffing it was pretty miraculous how we beat Duke and I got the strong sense Hurley thought the Michigan team was better than us. He's not letting that happen again.

Nik (I’ll learn to spell his name if he’s a Husky) as I was impressed with some plays and his attitude when we played Dook. He’s got a Cam edge to him
