Isn't that the excuse that one of UConn's opponents used years ago after getting beaten badly?another factor besides the early morning shoot arounds and the early morning talks with the press, the new rims and new sight lines may be that UCONN uses a Spalding ball during the regular season and now they use a Wilson in the tournaments. Different ball= different feel.
Pretty sure the Wilson ball was introduced two games ago at the first round so shouldn't be a big issue for anyone. All sports balls have a wax or something on them out of the box, even new baseballs which have been rubbed with a special dirt, you see pitchers scrubbing with their hands. Little harder for anyone to do that with the size of a basketball and if they are introduced at tip-off they are beginning to be 'broken in' by the end of the game - if they are then retired and an new one introduced for each game ...another factor besides the early morning shoot arounds and the early morning talks with the press, the new rims and new sight lines may be that UCONN uses a Spalding ball during the regular season and now they use a Wilson in the tournaments. Different ball= different feel.
He’s trying to change things! If enough coaches start talking about this, perhaps we might see some changes.Of course I respect Geno’s opinion about the problems with the tournament. He’s the foremost authority on anything WCBB. The coaches should be consulted before any large decisions are made. I’m all in.
Why is Geno disrupting the universe by talking about the rims. What is the Berraism, “ half of the game is 90% mental”. You say you’re a player: do you think a player needs to think about the rim, when they pull up for a jumper?
After all the clanks off the rims in the first day, they probably are ready for refit soon! Wonder if they use the same game balls or open new boxes each game?Three-point shooting percentages yesterday
South Carolina - 71%
OU - 30%
TCU 38.9%
VA - 44%
TX - 33.3%
UK - 33.3%
Michigan - 31%
Louisville - 21%
That's exactly the point. The background, the court, the angle views from different spots and now you throw in stiff, brand new rims which are not broken in with only a few games. No practice time for getting sightlines.
