Former UConn Basketball Asst. Makes Serious Accusations Regarding Kevin Ollie In NCAA Investigation

That's third person hearsay from a disgruntled ex-employee. There's so little basis in fact for it the school isn't using it for grounds, and the chances of the NCAA making it stick are slim and none.

The FBI is investigating people for taking money. If he didn't make it up out of thin air, it would be pretty easy for law enforcement to track this down.

But that's really not even the point. The NCAA likes to hit people for perceived or unproven allegations when it has a strong feeling they are true.

You're counting on the benevolence of Mark Freakin' Emmert. Even if this isn't one of the counts against UConn, they will keep it in mind when it comes to the penalties.

Sure, he's useful...but, not sure that referencing a potential $30K relocation pkg...that no one ever heard of or asked about...and could probably bring significant penalty if proven true...is all that helpful.

Miller did not say anything that could damage UCONN to the NCAA. The 30k that supposedly Ollie gave to a player's mom who then proceeded to tell Miller's wife about it knowing that could get her son in trouble is ridiculous. All hearsay and speculation from a guy who obviously has a conflict of interest with Ollie, and not a neutral party to the case.

PS: Smoke and mirrors meant to make Ollie go away.

Do you really believe this?

The FBI is after the shoe companies, not a parent of a recruit that allegedly got $30k. The NCAA has no subpoena authority, so even if they are inclined to investigate, who's going to tell them anything useful?

Emmert doesn't need this allegation to do whatever he's inclined to do anyway.

Would you feel the same way if they interviewed the 30K kid's mom and she spilled...gave names, dates, locations, etc?
You could say "that would never happen" and probably won't...but, why intro the risk? Just not seeing any upside to UConn for that reference...

You guys are whistling past the graveyard. If the NCAA believes Miller's $30k allegation, they will find a way to hit UConn for it. Believe that.

Why would you punish an institution for taking appropriate action? They found wrong doing. They acted immediately.

Punishing UConn would send a message if you find wrong doing, hide it, don't fix it, because the NCAA will punish you for doing the right thing.

$30k is a huge transgression.
That's third person hearsay from a disgruntled ex-employee.

Apparently, one man's huge transgression is another's mere hearsay. However, all UConn fans, quite frankly casual to in-authentic to legitimately authentic , better hope the alleged $3oK someone potentially associated with the departed KO paid to player X's Mom is his only payment.

Typically, a paltry $30K may not attract FBI, DOJ, Treasury, etc attention. However, GM's Chillious/agent references could potentially trigger interest during ongoing FBI and DOJ Nike/Adidas/agent investigations. Finally, it's unlikely tracking even $30K player X's Mom, her relatives, even closest friends received would be a massive challenge if law enforcement actually gave enough of a shti.

There is no explanation for his speculation than stupid spite. His, I really hate doing this and it will hurt GM’s job hunting per his lawyer but let me tell you about some second hand KO speculation gossip you did not ask about - is nauseating.

The attorneys on this board won’t agree with me - but why did he negotiate immunity - if he is so appalled by all this and didn’t do some himself?
Oh I don't know, maybe because he was aware of it and didn't act on it?

.-.
Chief don't be so dense. Miller is not doing this out of spite. There is more going on than meets the eye. Miller is being used by UCONN to make Ollie look terrible, without revealing anything damaging that would cause sanctions. Miller's testimony is nothing more than speculation and hearsay, but just the fact that he is "collaborating" with the NCAA makes Ollie look very bad and helps UCONN case to fire him without paying the 10 million.

PS: Miller is performing a service for UCONN and by extension Calhoun. He's a useful soldier.

Lift the Gag order for one post - Miller is not doing this for UConn. There is no conspiracy. Go back to the grassy knoll.

North Carolina got off Scott free and had fake courses for 20 years and we’re getting sanctioned? LOL

Correct.

Everyone here calling out Miller is sitting pretty on their high horse huh?

Put yourself in Miller's shoes. Say there was an ongoing FBI investigation within your work industry involving wire taps, etc. and you were aware of and witnessed your own boss partaking in illegal activity relevant to the investigation... How many of you would simply be okay with the situation and stand by your poor performing boss conducting those illegal activities during the FBI investigation?

Just by having knowledge of the illegal actions and not speaking up in that scenario would make you culpable in the investigation. You don't have to commit any wrongdoing yourself to ask for immunity.

Can't blame Miller for one second. The fact he got fired by KO just made it all that much easier. But it's funny to me how many are calling out Miller when they'd do exactly the same thing if they were put in the situation of witnessing wrongdoing during an active FBI investigation.

Say what you want.....but I definitely would not say anything......I don’t care who asks what. I did not see anything. Uconn should have paid Ollie and moved on and Miller should have moved on also.

ok tough guy

Yup... but the question for me is how much time will the investigative side of the house spend digging as opposed to the sports guys.
Problem is they need to fill pages. They will milk this as long as they can I think.

This is not an FBI INVESTIGATION . No one is facing jail time.

Where have you been the last decade. You just described the way the NCAA works under Emmett and given the FBI’s investigation and the exposure at Louisville Emmert will make a big show of punishments and it won’t be against the likes of Az or Kansas.

Losing two scholarships would be crazy if what's been made public is all there is. These transgressions are worthy of nothing more than a wrist slap. However, if Emmert is hell bent on continuing his personal vendetta against us, who knows what he will come up with.

I've said all along that the administration is playing a dangerous game of chicken here. What if these secondary transgressions turn out to be the tip of a iceberg that our administration has essentially unleashed on itself?
So we are both arguing the university is playing with fire but you are stating it won’t help KO and I think it does although in my argument KO wins on merit and in the above post KO wins because if this goes to court the university will regret the potential for even more damaging exposure than already stated and would agree to KO’s terms.

Lesson is if Glen sings over a loss of pension what type of singing does someone who loses $10 million do?

Does the university take that chance?

Chief is right. These people may be butt holes but they are not morons. If they were to conspire as guys are suggesting it could backfire and cause them , Benedict etc. Immense problems. They know this. They would have to be really , really dumb to hatch a plan like people are speculating. My gut and common sense tells me Miller is acting alone ( unlike Lee Harvey Oswald). He is out to get KO and does not need anyone to put him up to it.

They are also operating in the context of the FBI investigation. Do they set precedent with UCONN before that all shakes out? I don't think they will.

What I can see them doing is hitting the school because they had a prior 'lack of institutional control'. The 30k doesn't necessarily matter in that scenario, because they are simply doing whatever they want.

LOL. Rest easy we wouldn’t be here if all the parties weren’t morons.

So for your Miller is acting alone claim - why is Calhoun still employing him at St Ioe’s?

how would that look? There'd be another lawsuit going on with Miller and St. Joe's if he got fired after this report came out.

Um... Calhoun has known the entire time.
