Getting ready to twitter something but I feel the way I do when I am fixin the sprinkler system. I know it's simple but where do I start?

Staying on Twitter is not predicated on how often you tweet. I have 20 tweets in the last year and a half. On the otherhand, I am not certain that people are interested when I traverse my staircase in order to get breakfast.

I personally use it mainly to lurk on breaking news. Besides, if an athlete has anything decent to say, a news outlet (Boston Globe, Courant, UConn Huskies, etc.) will re-tweet it almost immediately.

depends, do u prefer the @uconndan97 ay of making a splash to start or just a simple message. if you are going to follow dans path, then u must pick a hot female other than @kateupton and then let things take care of themselves.

sent a tweet to D.Bradley and R.Lagow, they retweeted it back and look forward to being a husky. Kids like the attention. I think Dan is right twitter can be a plus. Saw that quinn thompson is on as well. Have to send him a message as well.

I love Twitter - it's basically become my newsfeed.

It's useful as hell.

But I'm not following prospects or players on it. I don't care if it helps, hurts or has no impact.

1) It's creepy. It used to be really creepy, but as it evolves and becomes more normal, it's now only mildly creepy. Still creepy, though.

2) Having to read the contents of a teenager's mind would hurt my own.

If any of them say anything that I might find interesting, Dez Connor or someone will retweet it. And once they get to the NFL or NBA, I might follow 'em then. (Our guys tend not to be huge Twitter guys, Hasheem excluded.)

I limit myself to ~5-10 UConn athletes (and commits) that I follow at a time, tweet at recruits once in a while, keeping the creepy to a modest level. Some are more careful about their twitter persona (@chandlerwhitmer and @NickyWilz31 hardly ever tweet, @E_Wolf_1 mostly tweets positive Husky Spirit type tweets)... Some less so.

And yeah lots of the stuff kids tweet about is trivial / banal, but some of it is cool for fans to see like this:

Yeah this is the prime reason I don't follow most of our athletes. Also, many of them are deeply religious and I just end up with a bunch of Joel Osteen comments about Jesus all over my newsfeed. To each their own, but not for me.

I'll stick to up-and-coming comedians and their snarky comments in my Twitfeed, thank you very much.

Agreed. Anything important will be retweeted anyway.

The purpose is actually just to show some love and say welcome to uconn or looking forward to what u bring and maybe some small chit chat. They will feel like they have a positive fan base not just a bunch if bench coaches. I am sure 45 percent o their tweets are about football and 45 percent are about chasing girls. Nothing earth shattering

You'd be mistaken. I used to think the same thing. Then I started reading the tweets these young men write on a day to day basis. I assure you, if it was just football, I'd do it. It ain't.
