Florida vs Houston NC game thread

I had a hard time deciding who to root for. I like Sampson, feel bad for him, and agree Golden seems like an ass, but I like the FL team better. Clayton is a no nonsense killer that seems like a good dude. Rather than just celebrating, he went over to Cryer who was visible shaken and tried to console him. Classy and sportsmanlike.

I recall
Keg on ice back at the hotel. Firing off more d1k pics tonight.
I recall you feeling justice was done when the episode closed. As such, this post is way out of balance. It's enough to make me wonder if you know you spin out on stories in this realm.

That game was garbage. Those two teams were garbage.

Kelvin can retire. If that’s the best you can do offensively in a national championship game, it’s time to hit the beach.

I never want to hear another word about this season having great teams and I never want to hear another word about UConn-Butler. That game was a masterpiece painted by God himself compared to the absolute dumpster fire we saw tonight.

He went over to Sharp too. You like to see that.

What is your problem?? How are they weak national champions?? They finished 36-4 in by far the toughest conference in America. What do you think people were saying after that disaster of a NC game in 2011??

Get over it. That was a great, hard fought game by two #1 seeds. Jesus
Go to the Gators message board.

For a close NC game, it goes down as the most anticlimactic one I can ever remember. After a flurry of trading baskets, there were just 3 made shots during the last 5 minutes of the game, 2 by Houston and one by Florida (granted a big time 3 by WC Jr to tie the game).

Neither team could get anything going offensively during the last two and a half minutes of the game, with Houston having 19 seconds to tie or win the game but doesn't even get a shot off. Ugh!

Up to that point it was a fun to watch two very athletic teams go at it.

Who knows what might have happened if our guys had just an average shooting game against FL, which could have easily been a double digit UConn win. They actually played some very good D that game. I'm inclined to think that Houston would have given our ball handlers fits, but who knows. The fact is our shooters, Karaban, Ball and McNeeley missed so many open looks against a team they just couldn't afford to do that against. Even having one of their worst shooting games of the season we lost by just 2 points. The tarnished silver lining is we were able to land the perfect combo guard they needed for next season by not still playing in the tournament. Though I'd trade that for having a shot at the 3-peat. They wouldn't have had to face UF in the second game if they didn't have some of their horrible losses putting them in the 8-9 game.

Anyhow, Congrats to the Gators who were the best team at closing out games during winning time. WC Jr is quite a player who knows how to win.

Doubt it. Bazz & Boat were much better guards than anything on that court tonight. Double D would have lit them for threes.
I like the way you're thinking. BTW, the 2014 UConn team did beat the #1 overall seed Florida, in the semi's.

He should have grabbed the ball and shot. Chances are the imbecile refs would miss the call. Or they call double dribble and clock stops a 4 seconds. Either way better than watching game clock run out

After this I don’t know if Sampson will ever break through. The look on his face the last few possessions tell the story of a man who could see his dream forming and then falling apart before his very eyes within minutes. He’s a good coach but tonight he choked.
His team could be better next year.

I'm glad Florida won. Why do you all want the conference that gave us blue balls two years in a row to win lol. Plus I'd rather say we lost to the champs

Wow, talk about Husky goggles. 53-41…..let that sink in. That 2011 championship game will never be underperformed. Not even close.

Last night wasn’t even close to that bad

Ok, I’ll play.,,,,last years Celtics team would have beat last years UConn team

Boy, that was fun

There is no way to compare accurately. My son made this point to me. What I think we know for sure is our team from last year was way better than our team this year.

This years team almost beat the team that went on to win the chip in a game our best shooters Alex, Solo and Liam went 6 for 26 or 23% from three.

Like I said these are all guesses but using just our team what we all know best as a baseline it is an interesting take.

I thought the game was not aesthetically beautiful basketball. But there were some crazy level athletes on the court last night giving 110% and leaving it all on the court. The ending was perfect for how the game was played both teams fighting for a loose ball as the buzzer sounded. I found it entertaining for that reason, Houston plays so hard and they are so physical but in the end their lack of offense did them in.

If Danny did not learn from his mistakes and stop focusing just on defense when constructing his rosters we may have ended up being like Houston while he is the coach. That first round loss to NM changed everything.

They're in the Big XII now, not AAC
