First Practice Video with the newbies

I was so excited to see Ayanna out there moving smoothly. That young woman has been through the wringer and seems to have maintained a terrific attitude throughout; if she has retained even a fraction of her athleticism through her injuries, I think she will be a real asset to the Huskies in the upcoming season. Let's go, Yanna!

You are CONFUSED! I made no such statement! But I do disagree with you. Caroline has been a leader on the sidelines throughout her injury period. I have never in all the time Azzi has been on this team seen or heard anyone refer to her as a leader (as in vocal leader). I have no problem with who leads this team to the 13th.

Loved seeing this video.....but the numbers in many cases weren't what was reported here yesterday.....grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.....I had to make guesses.....was 11 K9?, and 24 Serah? The long 3 shooter, was that Blanca? Anyone better at this please identify the newbies in the video by number!!

Yeah, you always have to be careful with AI, but here it's just acting to summarize a series of eight articles (see the indicator in the upper right hand side). That may not end up being correct, though I suspect it will, but it certainly indicates it's been "talked about."

I am reminded of the Daniel Patrick Monahan quote that everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but not their own facts. ;)

It did my heart good to see Caroline out there playing like everything was OK.As others have said, I prayed hard and long for Caroline to come back and play like she did in her freshman year. To be able to see her play in regular season games is a thrill. I'm sure by the time the season opens that GENO from practices will see if Caroline will start.I hope she does. I can easily see a N.C. this coming year and UCONN as No.1 the whole year.,This is the beginning of a NEW dynasty for UCONN. GO HUSKIES!!!!!!!!!!!

K9 was 11, Gandy was 24, Kelis took the long 3. CD, Sarah, Ayannah, Ash and Azzi also appear. Blanca is not there yet.

Long time lurker, first time poster.

I suspect that the new jerseys aren't ready yet, as the numbers don't match the team here: 2025-26 Women's Basketball Roster - University of Connecticut Athletics

Yes, K9 with Allie's number fooled me for a bit, and 24? Etc, etc. I'm sure we'll quickly come to recognise all the faces!

And I'm pretty sure Blanca hasn't landed yet, but I'm happy to be proved wrong.

Looking forward to another great season.
 
I couldn't think of a better duo to provide leadership than Azzi and Caroline. Two players that have been thru it all in their college careers. Uconn is going to be extremely rough to beat. It would take a pretty special game from any of Uconn's opponents to beat Uconn next year. They have no weakness in any of the 5 positions. I can't remember the last time Uconn had such a complete team. And the beauty of all this is that all these players will have a chance to play. Azzi and Sarah will probably be sitting on the bench for most of the 3rd and 4th periods, that's how dominant they can be and probably are.
 
Your last sentence confirms a belief I have that Sarah will never get ALL of the credit and kudos she deserves when her career numbers are compared with other Husky greats. With the routs we will impose on other teams, coupled with this team's depth she will get too much "bench time." I can't imagine 23 Big East games where she will be on the court in the 4th Qtr, let alone games against teams like USF and our first two opponents in the NCAA tourney.

One game not on our current schedule that I hope takes place is @ ND. If we do play at South Bend I hope Geno lets her go ahead and get a triple double with 40/20/10.

Just a point of clarification, there were many games that Caroline could not attend do to her concussion symptoms. Though I am sure her behind the scenes support was indispensable.

Really??? Since her announcement there have probably been 20-30 Boneyard posts dealing with her nickname and her number---9. She will be referred to as K9 for her next 3 years.

Don't know if it's been posted in the BY: yesterday the team announced the new players assigned numbers: Kelis #7, Kayleigh #9, Gandy #42, Blanca #4, Serah #22.

After 32+ years as Wrestling HC at East Lyme HS (till 2002) I have found that all players can be LEADERS without the captain designation!
Some lead by actions, others lead with their voice!
I've found a not so successful wrestler pulling out an unexpected victory can set the team on fire to do more than was thought capable!
I remember Ines's last year at UConn right before the game started gave the middle of the huddle pep talk and then only got garbage time at the end of the game!
This coming season's roster has a bunch of young ladies that are quite capable of inspiring their teammates no matter their level on the depth chart.
IMHO this is what makes this team so dangerous, they will have loads of LEADERS on the court at ALL times!
Chill Boneyarders, Sit back and enjoy the best team in Division I WBB!
