Teams are starting to finalize rosters. Thought I'd start a thread here to track final rosters and final cuts to get down to those rosters.

Lynx roster is thus:

Guards:
G - Seimone Augustus
G - Lexie Brown
G - Danielle Robinson
G - Odyssey Sims

Forwards:
F - Karima Christmas-Kelly
F - Napheesa Collier
F - Damiras Dantas
F - Jessica Shepard
F - Stephanie Talbot
F - Shao Ting

Centers:
C - Alaina Coates
C - Sylvia Fowles

Suspended list - Temi Fagbenle - C

May be resigned later this season - Cecilia Zandalasini - F

Out indefinitely (concussion) - Rebekkah Brunson - F

I like Shao Ting. I was hoping she'd make the team last year. The crowd really liked as well. Pheesa should compete for ROY with this lineup.

I’d like to point out a few things.

There’s a couple different kinds of suspension, and it’s important to make the distinction.

“Temporary suspension” means the player’s salary is discontinued until they join the team later in the season. The player’s entire salary is used in the team salary cap calculations. This designation applies to Temi Fagbenle.

“Full season suspension” means the player doesn’t get paid and their salary doesn’t get applied to the team salary cap. This designation applies to Maya Moore.

Rebekkah Brunson is unsigned and is under no obligation to sign with the Lynx nor are they obligated to her.

There are teams that still have a day to make needed player cuts, some of which may be desirable to other teams, and Indiana has first choice. So it may be a little premature to name final rosters.

Thanks for the clarifications.

I almost tagged you to make sure I got all the Lynx details right.

I did know that Brunson is unsigned but since Reeve says she is in contact with Brunson and wants her back if she's healthy, I doubt she goes anywhere else.

I guess "final" is a misnomer because these could change based on waiver claims as you point out. But I can always just make another post if they do :)

Natisha Hiedeman is the last cut for the Sun. Bria Holmes and Bridget Carleton survive the bubble.

I was at both preseason games at Mohegan and I am very surprised by this. I thought Natisha's quickness and defensive effort would win her the spot.

Best of luck to Bridget. The Sun will need 1-12 contributing in order to improve over last season.

The Mystics start the season with Kiara Leslie out for 3-4 months. Aerial Powers is out 3-4 weeks. Delle Donne will miss the first game of the season with a knee injury.

My understanding is that the Mystics still have to cut 1. Maybe Peddy?

Maybe Kiara Leslie doesn't count towards their 12 player roster. I see Brianna Stewart isn't counted on Seattle's roster.

I don't think Holmes was EVER near the bubble.

Perhaps not. These charts come from Ben Dull's twitter and he is a pretty keen observer, so just going off the "fringe" designation on the chart.

Based on the reactions I've read, it does sound like people thought it was between Hiedeman and Carleton for the last spot.

Veteran Leilani Mitchell was the Mercury's last cut.
They didn't have the cap space to cut just 1 rookie. It was either cut 2 rookies or 1 more expensive vet. They opted to cut Mitchell and keep all 4 rookies.

Maite Cazorla beat out Blake Dietrick for the last roster spot in Atlanta. Dream roster looks really solid.

So it looks like Izzie Harrison got the nod over Gustafson. I assume someone here will know: Where was Izzie last year? Was she hurt? IIRC, she was out one year at Tennessee with an ACL, did she tear it again, or tear the other one?

It did seem like Hiedeman had a good training camp. I wonder if the Sun wanted more height. They already have three players who can run the point in Thomas, Clarendon and Banham. I guess Carleton plays the 2/3?

I wonder if they would cut her for anyone else who’s been cut, if teams like Indiana pass on them... Kennedy Burke had a good game against the Sun in preseason.

So with cutting Hiedeman.... the Sun pretty much just gave Lexie Brown to Minnesota

It does seem clear that the Sun should have chosen Kia Nurse at #9 last year. It is really too bad that Brown didn’t work out. She seemed unhappy on her social media about her limited minutes last season and perhaps just wanted out, rather than giving it another go in year 2. Miller mentioned in one interview that they planned to trade her on draft night, and the Hiedeman trade is what they arrived at.
