Watched most of this game. Have no idea what St Johns was doing on offense other than taking terrible shots and hoping to get fouled. Thank goodness for Dan, Kimani, Luke, Mike and Tom. The best coaching staff in the country.

I don’t feel great about them. They clearly have the talent but I expect some absolute head scratching clunkers from them this season. They’re going to lose some games in conference play that they have no business losing.

Back to back disappointing non conference seasons for St Johns, they'll probably win 15 games in the conference just off the strength of being more talented than every team except UConn but it's a big drop from Richmond/Luis as lead guards/wings.

In the 3 years Pitino has been there, he’s managed to strike out in just about every big matchup possible. Needed a watered down Big East to make noise last year.

Butler is a 2 point favorite so I doubt it's an easy win for them. Hopefully that's the case but that's a high expectation

Easily might be going too far, but I do think if they play at their peak it should be a win of 7-10 pts. They did played well in the South Carolina tournament which includes a victory over Virginia, a win, as of right now, looks like it will age like fine wine. Northwestern is not good. And not nearly as good Virginia. However, Butler's play has a large variance as can be seen with their home loss to Boise State-that is most likely the reason for the 1.5 Vegas line. All of this was assuming Martinelli playing for Northwestern.

With Northwestern's Martinelli not playing, Butler should win easily or say comfortably (7-10 pts). Will they? Only if they bring the best version of themselves.

I don't know how much it will help the Big East if Butler wins, but it will definitely hurt the Big East if they don't. Butler will most likely finish in the top half of the Big East while Northwestern will finish in the bottom half of the B1G. This might all be moot after St. John's just shiiiit the bed against Kentucky.

Butler wins. Big East finishes 22-28 against the other majors. 44%. Not great, not mid-major like some here claim.
