In the past week Duke beat then #5 UNC 3-2 and Liberty 4-3 in OT.

A week ago, UConn beat Liberty 3-0.

As a result, Duke picked up a first place vote.

While I agree, Duke is now #1 in the RPI. Conference affiliation is killing us in yet another sport...

In the case of field hockey, the only conference affiliation that matters is the ACC. Duke got that extra vote by beating North Carolina, not for anything that happened with Liberty.

So you agree...? Not being in the ACC is definitely killing us. We'd have more respect in the Big Ten as well.

UConn athletics would certainly be better off in one of the P5 conferences, no question about it. As far as the UConn field hockey program goes, the Huskies recently won two field hockey national championships and has developed a nasty habit of making the final four in that sport. It may hurt sometimes in seeding for the NCAA tourney, but it seems the Husky field hockey team is doing fine even if it isn't in the ACC or the Big Ten. I think the same could be true in men's soccer as well, another NCAA sport where non P5 teams are always making the final four.

UConn field hockey beat Boston College 3-0 today in Storrs to finish the regular season undefeated at 17-0. Next up is the Big East Tournament next weekend in Providence.
